My Bubba comes out green most of the time, but any stress at all turns her purple at the end. Can be a frustrating bitch sometimes...

Back when??? At the right temps, she should ALWAYS turn a bit purple

IMO the purple is what you WANT. Lowering temps at night will cause what you see in my pics. From experience, that also brings out that coffee/hash smell and taste.

My experience has been the opposite. When it finishes mostly green/yellow with tints of purple on the leaves is best with the bud predominantly green. Whenever the buds start to go purple on me they dont develop fully and the flavour is impacted. It's happened to me a lot with this strain over the years. Its fickle. Mine is anyway. Partly why I dont trust doing a full monocrop of it.

Definitely bro. That first pic is as purple as she ever got for me. Katsu's cut, however, does not respond the same way.

Back to the mid later 00’s.. your bubba looks like Toohigh’s bubba which people say was 98 bubba, but before it was referred to 93 bubba.
Everyone’s 98 bubba these days does not look like the one you just posted. Leaves always turn dark instead of green to fade.
People think I’m crazy when I talk about green bubba, and as dirtbag said the flavor on the (purple) 98 bubba is not the same. The green bubba flavor would last to the tip of a joint as the purple 98 crashes out after the first few hits.
The other difference is the size of the buds, everyone has big large bubba buds where the green one never got huge. I wish the cut you had was still around. I had it till like 2010 where it dudded out after getting russet mites.
And with your variety from back then it looks like we got clones from the same guy. Stretchpuppy?

Hmmm. Those are pics from 11 years ago. My pre 98 cut came directly from swerves garden. I passed it out like crazy on the canna cabana. I've also grown katsu's cut. I found the pre98 to be inferior in yield but far superior in quality. My katsu cut came from katsu.

Yes! I saw the giesel and I figured it came from stretch at the cabana. He passed out a lot of the chem dog gear. Good to see ya coming back around. Im Variety over at the cabana.
The 98 everyone grows today is a lot bigger yielded which makes me believe it was selfed and just release as 98. Hadn’t seen pics of the green bubba for a long time until I just saw your pics.
We had a big debate over at the cabana not long ago about the 98 and how it was not the same lol

My pre-98 is weird man. Quite a low yielder and sometimes it turns out amazing but every once in a while it dont. These pics are actually of the same cut, 2 different grows. First two are of when it turns out right, and the last pic is what it does sometimes. Goes overly purple and doesnt fully develop. It's weird because it will happen in a room with half dozen other strains that are all thriving. Havent pinned down what's happening yet... Can you guys offer any insight into this phenomenon?

DAMN. You weren't kidding. My pre98 never got like that, holy cow! Mine always came out like your first two, as you see in my pics! I lucked out and she ALWAYS was pure fire.

Can see our cuts were the same tho. Those pics you posted first look just like every harvest of her. God I miss her lol

If what the guy I got It from said is true this plant has got to be pushing 20-25 years old, clone off clone off clone... Cant help wonder if that's why its getting so fussy. It's only been in the last year or so that its started doing this to me every other grow or so. I'd love to tissue culture it and see what happens.
I also wonder if maybe it requires more pk than I've been giving it. I can clearly see some signs of K def in the last pics..
Dont know. Changed a few variables for my current grow so I'll se how she turns out this time. If it comes out awesome I'm gonna be kinda choked cause I only have 1 in the flower room lol.

For sure it's over 2 generations old. I passed out about 2-300 cuts between 2009-2012.

Nice, The guy I got it from has had it since the mid 2000's, I've had it on two seperate occasions, once a decade ago i ran it for a few years but then lost it when I stopped growing for a year, but got it back about 4 years ago. Shes been passed around here from grower to grower for a long time. It was a staple for cash croppers along side Purple Kush from like 2005-2012

I feel ya man, I had over 50 elite clones 10 years ago but had to shut down until recently. Needless to say I don't have them anymore, but I'm contacting some ppl I sent these all too and hopefully they will return the favor

Thae is the more common 98 bubba, and imo is different from bubblefunks.
Do the bubba’s with smaller buds have weaker stems?
