So i started these plants from seeds on my balcony on the second week of june and they were thriving, i had to remove them from my apartment and bring them to a backyard (where there are other plants and bugs). I topped them 6 days ago and started feeding them fox farms trio and lst 2 days ago. I began to realize what looked like leaf miners were getting to the lower leaves so i bought Monterey garden insecticide with spinosad and used that on them today. I just want any advice from experienced growers because doing research can only help so much. Are my plants looking good and healthy and is there anything you would advise me to do?

Welcome to the farm. Some of the damage of those leaves is from thrips. I also see some caterpillar type damage on some others. Be careful spraying that stuff during the day as the sun will use the moisture as a magnifying glass and fry your plants. I’ve got experience doing that! best to spray at night. Take it easy and see how your plants react to the spinosad. Happy grows.

Thanks for the advice, the sun was going down and the plants were in the shade when i sprayed them, is there a recommended waiting period before using the spray again on them? i really couldn't find anything online about that except to not use it close to harvesting.
Thanks again !

use less than recommended on the bottle label. those pesticides do affect taste, thus one reason not to use close to harvest.

typically, you apply these pesticides/solutions a couple of times to break the life cycle of the bug - you kill the adults on the first spray, then you kill the 2nd generation on 2nd spray, then kill the eggs, etc....

you need to quarantine those plants in a clean area, make sure infestation is not from outdoor area/garden... not to spread it to other parts of garden...

I don’t have any experience using Monterey. The only info I could find on it seems pretty helpful. Always read your plants and see how they react the the spraying.

Hey all! Just a little update! i put them into the 5 gallon pots last week and gave them nutrients on Sunday. They’re thriving and i am finally able to tell that 4 of them are females! The first one still isn’t showing but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. How are they looking ? Any advice ?
