Have you fixed the deficiencies on the plants in soil? I would wrap a tin foil around the glass jar

No I haven't yet i flushed my soul and cut my watering down I did a feeding to early I think but it's my first time indoors and as for the jar I'm leaving it open for one to watch the root growth and study it as well as have it room tempeture lol SCIENCE!!!!!

your old leaves are showing either potassium or calcium deficiency, i get my readings wrong sometimes, but i'm sure another member can correct me. i'm not sure if the white residue is from your humidifier or their spider mites.
The reason for covering the glass is so that the light doesn't hit the water and create algae, mildew, fungus and such. Also, you can study the roots while it's still covered. 👍
