Starting week twelve of flower

I’m a rookie on his second grow trying to learn a little more about what my plant is trying to do with these new pure white stomas which seem to indicate that she’s not ready to be harvested. Maybe I’m just overthinking it. This is what we’re working with:

Amnesia Haze x White Widow (80/20 sativa)
Fox farm happy frog soil medium, fox farm nutrients.

I may have tapered the nutrients off a week late and for the past week I’ve been giving her nothing but pure pH 6.0 water, expecting a harvest as early as 4 days ago. Now I’m thinking that I acted on that instinct at least a week too early because she has ramped up her canabalistic activities and one of the clones leaves actually turned completely purple, which could also be due to the cold ...

As you can see, I’m overthinking these last few steps but I also wanted to share this experience by joining your forums so that I could take advantage of all of your resources going forward. Thank you for your time, any advice/suggestion is welcome and appreciated.

Have you checked the trichomes with a loop to see if they are cloudy/amber. Because that is how you know when it's time to harvest. Btw your plants look awesome!!!

i would let them run for another week or so. There thickening up, but billy is right, a jewelry loop or a microscope would be best to find out how the trichomes are

Looking sweet man! For a DIY scope, I took a cheap lil dollar laser pointer, dismantled it for the lens. I put the little lens in the big loop end of a paper clip then held it to my phone camera and get it real close to the plant till its focused.

I have a loupe but the trichomes still look plastic. From what I’ve been reading online and in forums, sativa s have a tendency to not amber until after harvested which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me ... but yeah, I’ve been checking trichomes daily. I’ve also never seen amber trichomes on any of the half dozen plants I’ve been around but I also know that this is a common issue for rookie growers. Once I see it for the first time, I’ll know! 8P

I bought a cheap loupe off of Amazon. If I position it just right over my phone camera, I can actually take a picture using it. I’m going to give that a shot for the forum.

Nice man super frosty! It can be difficult to get a good pic of somethin as small as a tricome lol

Yeah. All goodie mobs. I was going to give her until the end of the week regardless. I’m hoping to see amber for the first time but if not, she’ll be ready when she’s ready like most women right? What’s new?? Me being a control freak? Afraid that’s nothing new. Thanks for the talk! 8P

Lmao yea I hear that lllooolll but yea my last run I chopped with like I dunno maybe 5% amber at like 75 days, not sure what % others chop at but probly not much more than 10% I'd imagine unless you like couch lock more lol

So wait ... you’re saying only about 5% of the trichomes were showing amber? That’s useful knowledge if I’m understanding that correctly.

Right, amber on 5% of visible trichomes is when I pulled em. From my understanding, when they turn amber the thc degrades and cbd is increased or the thc turns into cbd or somethin along those lines anyway lol. Been a while since I read up on it so don't quote me lmao

Yep. Don’t quote me either but I remember reading something which led me to believe that the amber coloration resulted in a more mellow buzzz. I once believed in the Easter Bunny too but flu helped ruin that for me. 😜

Lmao right yea I've heard the more amber there is the more couch lock high it would be. Just what I've read and heard lol haven't actually experimented technically but I've smoked some that was let go to full amber but he didn't do something right cuz that shit burned the F out of my throat and tasted like shiznit lol hated it

Cured for 13 weeks? Noticed any benefits to curing that long versus like just 4 weeks?
