this post is the first for this grow journal. It covers the equipment, nutrients, etc that I will be using. I will try and segment this grow journal into a few posts that cover each major phase of the grow.

I’m doing my first ever hydro grow.
Equipment: auto pots with 3.9 gallon pots. 1500w Maxisun led light.
seeds: big nugs fast. Photoperiod. Feminized.
Grow medium: 50/50ish mix of coco and clay pebbles.
nutrient line: advanced nutrients ph perfect micro, bloom, grow base. Hobbyist level on their nutrient calculator on their website.
Things I would have done different: Pre-soak the coco in a strong cal-mag solution. Make a mix with more like 65-70% coco and 30-35% clay pebbles. Start seeds in a different cup and transplant to autopot.

this post covers the seedling stage of the grow.
Seed in napkin: 10/12
Seed in coco: 10/14
Last day of seedling stage: 10/31

water/nutrient schedule. (I used RO water that I make at home that ends up having 1 ppm.)

Week one: 10/14-10/20: mostly plain water for first 6 days and started nutes at 100 ppm on day 7.

week two: 10/21-10/27: (micro, bloom, grow equal parts) start of week at 225ppm. End of week at 300ppm. Ph hanging around5.8-6.2

last days of seedling stage: 10/28-10/31: same as above.

This post covers the first 2.5ish weeks of the veg phase. Today I finished building my screen it has two sections, one for each plant. 18”x18” each. Placed about 8 inches above the first branch.

week one (11/1-11/7): top watered everyday til drainage occurred. Started week with 367 ppm and ended with 800. Micro, bloom, grow, voodoo juice, b52. Put some cal-mag in at end of week.

Week two (11/8-11/14): had reason to believe I have a salt buildup. Flushed with low ppm water around 200 ppm low ph around 5. On 11/13 I setup the auto pots with 3 gallons of water. Micro, bloom, grow at 670 ppm.
11/14 added voodoo and b52 up to 820 ppm.

week three (11/15-11/21): added more micro, bloom, grow up to 1200 ppm.

this post covers the end of the veg phase. It also includes some things I left out of the prior post.
SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN LAST POST:
11/4- topped both plants at the 5th node.
11/12- neem oil spray at 1/2 strength.
11/20- topped secondary set of branches.
11/21- topped the two main shoots off each plant.

week 4 (11/22-11/28): res at 1500-1700 ppm and 5.6-6.08 ph. (Grow bloom micro and b52)

week 5 (partial week) (11/29-12/1): added a little bit of voodoo juice to the res. Lowered ppm to 1350ish. Finished trimming all preflowering stems that won’t reach screen, I’ve been taking random ones off for the last 2 weeks. On 12/1 at 10:30 pm I flipped the lights off and will leave them off until 12/3 at 11:00 am.

This post covers the first 2 weeks of flowering stage. 12/3-12/16

12/3: mixed new reservoir. Two parts MBG by advanced nutes to one part voodoo juice then dialed res into 1150ppm. Also applied neem oil spray at lights out. ph stayed between 5.35-5.82 all week.

12/10: mixed new reservoir 2 parts MBG to one parts voodoo juice and big bud. Dialed res to 1150 ppm.
12/11: applied neem oil spray at lights out.
12/16: res ran almost dry mixed up week 3 nutes 2 parts MBG to one parts b52 and big bud. Dialed res to 1150ppm.

I’ve been reading more about suggested ppm levels ( the charts id found were all over the place ranging from 800-1450ppms while in flowering.) and from general consensus it seems best to go lower when possible I know I’ve been pushing them to the max with the 1150 ppm so I am going to try a lower ppm of about 1000 for a few days and see how they do

This post covers the rest of the flowering phase.
12/21-1/10: followed schedule for my nutes and kept ppms around 800-900.

1/10: I discovered a large salt buildup in the auto pots. The reservoir had good ppms and ph but the tray that pots sit in had same ppm but ph was a whole point higher. When I flushed auto pots from top with 250ppm water it was coming out over 2000ppms!!! Started flushing everyday with 100-200 ppm water.
Cleared salt buildup about 7-10 days later but it was so close to harvest I didn’t put anymore nutes back in (this def hurt my yield)

1/26: cut the plants trimmed and hung them up.

2/2: buds dry enough to start curing.

i harvested 4.9 oz off of the 2 plants. It smells amazing and really fruity. Trichome formation isn’t bad but nothing to brag about. Very happy with my yield for a grower with my little experience and using a 2x4 tent.
I’ll try and get some pics to turn out of the nugs but haven’t gotten a good one yet.
