Hey guys, This is my first grow. I just got these clones yesterday, they are from oaksterdam (dont know if thats good or bad) and are Chemdog #4 clones.

So 6 clones came in one cube, total pain in the butt, and there was definatly some root damage caused when seperateing them but I did my best to save as much as I could. The clones were stared according to the oaksterdam tag on 12/08/09.

Well as youll see in the pics I had a few leaves with yellow on them from the start but this bundle of clones had the most root growth so I pickedc them. I bought them at 5pm and they made it in there pots at about 1 am.

1. Today I checked them and I had a maybe one more dead leaf.....Is this just from the transplant and loosing some roots? hould I trim the dead leaves off or just trim the brown off the leaves?

2. Also, I took the bag of hydroton and washed the hydroton with water for a while, but after putting them in my net pots with the clones I noticed some of that brown residue running out like i didnt get it all, will that hurt the plants?

3. Also, I have water levels at about 1 inch above the bottom of the hydro pots, but not sure if its low enough for the rock wool to touch the water. Should I raise the wate level, or just hand water out of the res till my roots grow down to the water.

As for lighting I have them under a 1000 watt HPS wich is about 3.5' above them, and will lower it down to 2.5' tonight. They are going to be on 18/6 cycle for 2-3 more weeks....

As for nutes im just keeping it simple for now and am running bionacare grow only at 15ml a gallon and my ph is at 6....

As for temps, they are keeping right at a steady 69 degree's.

I know I should be running t5's to veg or even better a MH light, but I got a good deal on this 1000 and decided to build my flowering room first and use it to veg my first batch, ill be building a veg room in a few weeks.

so anyways here are some pics, any advice would be greatly appricated, this is my first grow and I am hoping it will go good....It has taken 2 months of buying supplies for me to get to this point, and I will continue to upgarde evry 2 weeks when I get paid....next on my list to purchas is a digital PH meter and PPM meter, and mylar to wrap the walls...its a work in progress....Again any help is greatly appricated.

the pics of the clones in there hyrdo pots were taken 12 hours after there trans plant, and like i said one leaf died, anothe may have browned up a tad more but overall the whilting went away and the green leaves looked better.

You have a bunch of things going on here. #1 looks like soem root damage due to the seperation that you had to do. What idiot grew 4 clones in one cube? Hope you got a deal on them is all I can say. You don't want those cubes to sit in the water though so lower your water level till the roots drop and do some hand watering. And your light is just a tad brite for those delicate clones. I wouldn't suggest you drop that thing down yet. Need to give them some time to acclimate first. Most peoples reaction is to over-react. As for the hydrotron. I'm not really an expert with it but I do believe that you are supposed to rince them and soak them for 24 hours in PH nutral water. I say take off those lower leaves that are burnt up. The plant will spend more energy trying to fix leaves that can't be fixed. Just have a little patience..hand water them for a minute but don't foliar feed. by not feeding, you will encourage the roots to seek food. Hope any of this helps and maybe some hydro folks can help more.

thanks bro, that is a help....ill go trim the dead leave....I think your right about soaking the hydroton....my first beginners mistake.

Also I'll leave the light up at 3.5' for afew more days.

oh and actualy i got 6 clones in one rockwool cube....$90 for 6 clones...from my understanding oaksterdammmmmm does all there clones this way to save money....not cool....I just hope they all rebound and shape up.

How long should I wait before topping them, they were cloned 12/08/09? Do Chemdog #4's respond well to topping?

I WOULD GIVE THEM ABOUT A WEEK OF RECOVERY BEFORE YOU GO CHOPPING ON THEM BRO. sorry about caps. I mean topping them. Once they start to put out new growth again and your plants reach the nutrient solution then you can top her off. As for the Chem, I haven't grown them personally but if you have space issues they I would top them any ways but let them heal a little first. I would think about finding another place to get your clones in the future too to save from going through this every time you start umm.

yeah, the way they do there clones suck, but I have heard of some great plants coming from oaksterdam...take a look at rollin's casy jones......

well I have a 1000k watt hps and my grow area is 5'x4' allthough my total area in my grow room is 6'x5'....and i have about 6' of height above my 5 gallon dwc's.

so ill take your advice and wait a week before I attempt any topping....

for a optimin yeild what height should they be before flower, they are 3 weeks old approx and from 5" to 8" tall right now. I was thinking maybe another 3 weeks but this is my first grow so im just geussing. So my plan would be wait a week, top them wait another week and top them again if its advisable then give them another week and flower.

oh and when i just now trimed the dead branches I also trimmed an leaf touching the hydroton figuring maybe the nuts would burn the leafs. Dont know if that was wise or not....

take off the fucked up looking leaves. and if you are thinking of topping, do it now. the more plant matter you remove, it will actually recover faster.

topping is not gonna stress it into shock and death. if it does, it was gonna die anyways. either way, i'd clean em up a bit, and rock and roll.

Some root damage and they look a little over watered.

check out the diy dwc that will help u I believe they recommend u ahnd water for the 1st week till your roots get long enough to touch the water. Also u should have ph'd the hydroton in 5.5 ph water for 24 hours hope this helps.

I may have over watered, while I am hand watering till there roots make there way down into the resivour, how much and how often should i water, i was thinking around 1 cup of water twice a day, but that rockwool holds the water pretty well, does once a day sound better?

Yeah i messed up with the hydroton, and I even knew to let the pellets soak.....that what I get for starting off my first grow while medicated....damm "MK Ultra"....

run a search on this tread (DIY Standalone DWC Bucket)

run a search on this tread (DIY Standalone DWC Bucket)

I read alot of that thread a while back but must not have retained alot of the info, its a whole different story now that i can see the plants in the DWC in front of me....Thanks for the reminder....

So what I did today in a attempt to reverse my messup with not cleaning the hydroton good enought is I washed out really well 25liters of fresh hydroton I had, and now I have the cleaned hydroton soaking in nute water for the next 24 hours, then tommorrow ill change out the original hydroton that wasnt cleaned proper.....

also i noticed today the sediment from the uncleaned hydroton had settled to the bottom of each DWC bucket so I drained the water leaving the sediment from the uncleaned hydroton and washed the 5 gsallon buckets out, and poured the water back in.

Maybe in a week ill change up all the water.

What is Calmag sand should i be using it?

Also I cant belive those little Chemdog #4 clones allresady have the grow room smellin a little.....hopefully thats a good sign.... love smelly weed.....

does the sediment from unclesaned hydroton hurt the plants, or does it just msake dirty wsater? Just wondering if my mistake has hurt the clones?

thsanksa rolln.....being my firsat growq my anzxiety is up a little that I'll do something stupid and kill them.....

can some one tell me what cal-mag is for and if I should run it with my bionacare grow nute....

cal mag is a calcium/magnesium additive - certain strains really like magnesium... if your using reverse osmosis water the filter removes the magnesium and calcium as well so you want to use a cal mag type product - plants tend to most commonly show mag def in the first few weeks of flowering...

thanks rolln...im going to go get them on some cal-mag todsay then.....its been a few days since transplant and I havent watered them in 24 hours and they are looking better, the yellowing is pretty much gone....thanks for the help everyone.
