My grow from last year has lost a lot of color

This is from my grow just over a year ago, the weed has been curing and been burped etc since then I just have left over. Is it ok to still smoke? I don’t see mold or anything on it, just the green has been drained out of it. On the right is some from my newer grow that happened to get tossed in the same jar.

My year old buds do the same. Still smooth, but deff starting to lose potency.

Yeah, weed is getting old at one year.. if you want to store it that long term, you need to purge the air out of the containers with Co2 or argon, nitrogen or some other inert gas, seal it up and then freeze it. It'll stay fresh for a year or two like that.
Otherwise, 3-6 months old is the sweet spot. Beyond that, it starts to degrade if not properly preserved

I think he could probably put in smaller jars and get more time out of it..less air less degrading

If you had it in the suitable RH range for curing, it should be very smooth.

I have some friends who use Seal-A-Meal vacuum sealers followed by freezing, with great results. One sucks every bit of air out, making the buds look unappealing (to me). The other stops just short of that, leaving a small amount of air.

A sealed packet of weed also pretty much has no scent.

That's what I use, foodsaver vacuum bags. But I purge them with Co2 rather than sucking the air out and squishing them. Then into 2 gallon empty ice cream tubs in the freezer. Good for a couple years that way.

Didn't do it for my last crop and now kicking myself for it.. going on a year old and getting a bit stale. But smokable still.

If its not that much of a yield a smaller jar will help my guy..for next time I always do it even when im just buying it and my bud stays fresh for hella long...shit I dont even burp my bought bud and it lasts forever

Haven't been without one since the late 90's! It's considered essential equipment in my house. I use it for storing weed, yeasts, food, grain spawn, all kinds of stuff. Handy for mailing weed or taking it on a plane too. No smell escapes at all.

Plane trips are what I want it for. I've been using those tiny Nalgene jars, which are pretty good at scent reduction for a container you can open and close.

Many years ago, when they started using those body scanners, I realized keeping weed in a vial stashed in my underwear just wasn't going to cut it. I just let them x-ray it now, but I think vacuum bags would be less noticeable than cylindrical vials.

Lol, I've taken many a flight with a stash in my shorts. Last few flights I took it was legal to bring weed on the plane in Canada, plus I have a license so I can carry quite a bit.. last time I had like an oz of weed and an oz of hash in my carry on luggage. Was a strange feeling watching security go through the bag and not give a fuck about all the dope in there. I even rolled a big joint sitting in the departures lounge and smoked it out in the smoking pit before going through security lol. Modern times are so confusing to me. Good in many ways, awful in others.

Living in a "legal" state, I don't see any repercussion in bringing weed along. If they find it, I don't even know what they'd do. I wonder about driving across the border from Michigan to Ontario. Would they confiscate it?

If I return from an illegal state or country, I tend to try and finish everything before leaving — with the exception of a gummy or two for long flights.

I am throwing away some old jars marked summer 2017, about a pound, no mold, no rot, and a few Boveda packs a year. I tried it just to see. It is a mellow smoke but has lost some kick and become far more couch lock than I like. Just going to toss it in my garden bed for compost.

Nah fam. Toss those buds in a bottle of cheap booze. Let them soak in their. Make a little green juice.
