Was hoping I am not the only one. I am 44 days from seed and seems strange that I can never turn the light up to even 50% @ 36" without beginning to get some tip burning. I see people talk all the time about 12" and 18" full power with their lights during flower. I just can't imagine that with this light. Anyone else have one?

I had this problem when I switched from HIDs to LEDs. It was one of HLG's DIY kits (640W, which they don't seem to sell anymore). Plants seem to need a lot more Mg, in particular.

I slowly cranked it up during my last couple of grows and things worked well at full power.

Interesting and thanks. Is my best option to always play the less is more with intensity or is it wise to make sure I'm using the most light they can handle by pushing till at least a few leaves say "ouch"? I have the free apps Photone and PPFD Meter but they are both so far off from eachother that they are pretty much worthless. 1 app read in the 300s and the other 500-700 🙄
I feel like I should be giving them more light but at like 40% and 36" is all they seem to handle without some area alerting me. I do only have 1 oscillating fan running and my humidifier I only turn on an hour or 2 at a time a couple or few times a day. I know I need more fans and I bet that could help with increasing the light a bit hmm

I’ve been playing around with turning my light full power and tuning it down if needed/seeing how they adjust

I am not using a HLG like you though and I’ve got more like 450watts

just my 2cents to chime in with ya

eventually you’ll need more co2 before they can biochemically react fully with the light.

I use the scorpion rspec, similar light. First run. Didn’t put at 100% until start of week 5 flower. Started flower at 50 and slowly ramped up. Plants grew into it and closest 1 foot away. View attachment 1222903
Ahh yes very similar light and exactly what I needed to hear. Phew so I'm not crazy and they just don't need/want it just yet. Love your drip system. If you don't mind me asking, what do you think you spent on all the auto-irrigation? Hand watering in coco kinda sucks. I'm just giving them 1L a day and I know they'd love more frequency. Next geow I want something like yours

I built my system based on the coco for cannabis DIY guide. https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/diy-automatic-watering-system/
All together I wanna say 350-400. That includes the drainage though. I think just feed parts around 200. I got all from Amazon and didn’t price shop. Could prolly shave some off.

It’s worked great for me. But makes monsters. I’m leaning SOG atm and would prolly set up differently if were doing again.

I don’t have the blackbird but I do have an hlg scorpion. Same thing. My light is against the ceiling and running at less than 50%.

On another forum, another grower with an HLG Scorpion said he gradually increases the light intensity and doesn't reach full power until early flower. I think I had mine on full by the time I flipped, but regardless, it's a gradual thing.

I am also running UVA. I am 3 weeks in flower now and the plants have stretched to about 24” from my scorpion. I turn it up any more and they’ll fry. I have 40K lux and 620 PAR at the top of my canopy. DLI is 30.

This is the schedule I pulled off the other site.

You gonna run co2? That schedule beyond the mid flower numbers would fry my grow.
Probably not. Keep thinking my t6 will just suck it into the attic and that I will faint when working on the plants 😆 and also scared something like an eXhale bag will be an attraction for gnats and other pests. But that's just because I don't know better but am indoors in an office trying to be very careful. I am just happy to hear many others also weren't past 50% when were where I'm at. Right now I'm at about 50% and 32" and they seem to be ok with it. Going to leave it and maybe try 1 click higher every couple weeks

You want the plants to respond with a flat presentation of the leaves on the plant. Not praying up for more or curling down to escape. Just a nice horizontal flat leaf.

Hey Trader, I dont see any leaf stress/tip burning at all in your Photos?, Your Vegging Plants show Healthy Happy Green Hybrid Vigor. When your leaves are Taco'd that'll be your 1st sign of heat stress. If your talking about the new growth looking lighter that is what healthy new growth looks like until they photosynthisize(from sunlight), then they will turn dark green(chlorophyll).

thanks brotha. yeah I have been battling with that a few weeks now. Definitely see why some do things a certain way and plan to adjust next grow. I'm trying to do the best I can with topping and LST but the 2 chem cookies definitely seem easier to deal with than the white widows as far as training. I plan to scrog but only have a 4" and a 6" for the 2nd but feel I may have more eventual tops than amounts of spots for each. Ehh prolly gettin ahead of myself. Thanks again

appreciate it much bud. This community fkin rocks and yall are pretty much only reason made it this far hah Yeah this is from today and I haven't had any real burning but was just referring to the intensity of the light when I try to turn it higher than 50% or drop the light lower than 32"ish. Within 12hr I can spot yellowing of just the very edges of usually new or mid growth leaves.

hey maybe yall can help me a bit further. Is this just a different strain thing is the basic question. So at this point the chem cookies appear as though would produce more than double what the white widows will. They just don't seem to train anywhere near the same and grow quite different. The pic below are from just now. The up close is from one branch of a CC and how the whole plant seems to grow everywhere. Yet the WW you can see it seems almost stunted. It just grows new leaf set after new leaf set inside itself. It has wayyy more leaves everywhere along its branches. This WW seems to not want to grow in height at all yet the other WW is the one of the 4 that wants to grow in height the most. Does this look like normal growth on the WW?

All strains grow differently of course. The close-ups are what I call sucker branches that will actually steal energy from the main stem buds, with more experience you will cut them off - Sounds like youre just starting out I would let them go until you have a few grows under your belt, Cannabis is horrible at using resources and needs to be trained. looks like u are about 5 weeks into veg, You should defol lower leaves that arent seeing any light pretty soon (defol definately a week before flip). I would also start low stress tying branches and widening them out, it will get more light thru the canopy - (tip: dont bend branches that are fat with water they will break, train branches when they are dry before watering) GL M8
