Hello, I’m at the tail end of my grow. Started w/ 3 and recently harvested the first 2. This last plant didn’t show pistils until almost 3 weeks after the flip to 12/12….which was on July 14. So I think it’s accurate to say it’s been flowering since Aug 2 or 3.
It’s a Gelato OG from 207 genetics….under a HLG 320 LED, grown in FF 70/30 buffered coco, amended w/ various dry organics (Gaia Green, kelp meal, langebeinite, EWC) It’s my first run with coco and first time using dry organics and top dressing. I’ve learned a lot.
Anyway, as you can see she has faded to a very light green. My last top dressing was over a month ago ..at the time I really thought she was closer to being ready.
I’ve also given a tea for microbial action.
There are a few white pistils remaining and she’s looking very close to done.
The problem is the trichomes…..there are a substantial amount of clear ones. Hardly any ambers except for the leaves, but on the calyces it’s probably 70% cloudy 30% clear…..less than 1% amber.
She’s not drinking hardly any water and has changed very little in the last 5-6 days.
I’m a little worried about the yellowing of the sugar leaves.
Anyway, I’d really like to allow the plant to mature more IF she has enough gas in the tank to actually progress….meaning some of those clears go to cloudy.
What do you think??
If I let her go should I feed her something? The dry organics will take too long but I do have some liquid Buddha Bloom which is organic and I’m guessing is available quicker than the dry varieties.
I will say that the buds stink to high heaven of sugary lemons…..and I don’t wanna overcook her and lose any of that aroma.
Any advice is appreciated.

Mr. Bullmark,

I’m not sure in an annual plants life cycle if you’ll see a pop fertilizing now. Looks like the thing is shutting down. It’s pretty much over. Mien Gott, those are nice looking buds. Is yellowing at this point in its life cycle common for the strain?

If you want a quick bang for the buck try a foliar application of fertilizer. I doubt you, the buds or the plant will benefit.

Zill.

One other tidbit - the more stress the plant is experiencing the quicker the trichomes will degrade, cloudy. It won’t take long.

If you want a couch lock keep it going. It's up to you.

edit: what size pot is that?

Do you have a way to take pics of the tri's? Reason I ask is I've run into times where I think I'm seeing clear, but a pic tells a different story. Like on my last grow, I had 2 OG Kush plants a week apart, one was progressing like I'd assumed it would, but the older one seemed clear. I took a pic, and it was actually at about 40% amber?!? Don't know if it's the way the light was hitting it that made it look that way or what.

I’m usually not a big trichome analyst but I do look at them once the plants gets near the end. This one struck me as different b/c so many are kinda in between milky and clear. I can usually glance at them through the jewelers loupe and determine the clear ones by how they shine back at me….you know they glisten in the light.
Well there’s a lot of that here, but many of the ones that glisten are not entirely clear but not milky either. I would assume that trichs take some length of time to go from clear to milky….getting gradually cloudier over that time frame?? I dunno.
I was gonna hang this plant whole but changed my mind after looking at things this morning.
The tops are probably there with mostly milky and some ambers sprinkled in…..but the lower stuff doesn’t look that way at all.
So I think I’ll take the very top buds and leave the others for at least a few days. Maybe some direct light will benefit their development…
I’ve overcooked plants before while waiting on pistils to turn orange and trichs to turn amber. It was not good and the end result was lost terps and the buds almost dried up and weren’t sticky at all.
I’m not letting that happen. Thursday morn is Top Chop time.
Thanks to everyone for tagging in.
