Happy Day!!! Thanks to improved environmentals I think, and Madbud's little trick also helped, I am now on my way to having a seedling.... I hope to do right by her...

I have my light at lowest intensity, about 18" above — Spider Farmer's SP1000, plus a ton of natural light. Leave it there for now? How do I know when / how much to dial it up?

She straightening herself out and I can see two little leaves inside the cotyledons.

Is it me or do they look like they're a little yellow at the tips? Is this normal / ok or do I already have some soil / water issues?

At this stage the seed is deriving all its energy from itself. Watering in nutes won't help. Just keep an eye but it should be fine.

Thanks for the reassurances, just worried that this peat pellet might be too nutrient rich for these autos. Next go round (hopefully in about 10 weeks after this one grows up happily 🤞🤞) I will put the sprouts directly into grow medium instead.

Here to check out the grow! Nice little seedling there! Before you know it you’ll be asking how to stop her from getting any bigger 😂… it’s a good problem lol

Good morning! Here she is on this fine Sunday morning, she's getting a little talker and straighter, first leaves filling out and I can see what appears to be the next set starting to form maybe!? Today will be day 12 since I put the sprout in the peat pellet.

I've been learning on the fly, so although I will be growing in pro-mix hp with fabric pots, this seedling ("Bruce Banner" fem auto from Sweet Seeds / Herbies) was misguidedly started in a peat pellet. I think that may be why she started off so slowly, but seems to be picking up steam now...

Good choice in my opinion (I use it) lol I add about 15/20% perlite even to the hp - I start seeds and use it thru whole cycle usually no nutes needed for a few weeks, after each uppot.

You asked earlier if you planted it deep enough, the answer is too much in this case. I recommend a full day after the 24 hour soak in water, to let the seed hang out for 24 or 48 hours in a humid paper towel, then carefully bring out the peat starter plug and place it on top. You can go low fi here by keeping plastic around the baby seedling to keep the humidity up. For warmth you can use a heating pad or put it on top of your refrigerator to keep temps warm 24/7. Don't let the plug get saturate or too moist, and it won't dry out very fast if the sides are in a tray/covered.

Moving along, still very slowly, but not stretching out or getting weak or stressed looking, so just letting it do its thing. New set of leaves coming in, so just being patient.

One thing I noticed is the cotyledon on the left looks kinked and small and pale, kind of lame, while the other one is big and plump and green and shows no sign of depleting yet. So, wondering if my plant is a little under fed and hence slow to develop since it seems to have an underperforming cotyledon.

Orherwise, things are good, I think?

Good morning everyone. Second set of leaves coming steadily, also noticed the plant has started to grow taller as well.

My light (2022 SF1000) is 10" above the leaves, at 20% power. Measuring with the Photone app it is getting ~290 ppfd. Is this good or should I start making any adjustments?

Aaaaannnd it's Friday! Happy Friday to everyone who observes. Little Bruce has been growing steadily all week, starting to stretch out a bit. Next photos I take I think I'll start using a ruler to get a sense of how fast / stretched out the plant is... (Watered yesterday so the medium is still wet looking)

Monday again, and here's an update on baby Bruce. Leaves growing well, second set coming in nicely, and, there appears to be two new branches forming right above the first two non-cotyledon leaves! Woooot!!

Speaking of the cotyledons, my suspicions about the one on the left side in these photos were right: it was malformed and I think pinched somehow during the sprouting process. Never straightened itself out and the initial growth on the side of the plant seemed weaker than the other side. Now it has shriveled prematurely, the one on the other side still going strong.

I think by the end of the week I might pop this plant into a three gallon fabric pot and start a very diluted feeding regimen, with Fox Farm and Foop foliar feeding spray.

What soil are you transplanting her into? If its a premixed soil chances are it has plenty of nutrients to carry her for a few weeks after the transplant.
