Hello,
I am very facsinated with these medical growing buckets. I have always thought big plants is the way to go and this is fast growing and big plants!

I have been looking at the General Hydroponics bucket systems like the aquafarm or the powergrower 8 bucket system.

How would yield and growth compare with these to the buckets? Has anyone tried?

Thanks!

It wouldn't. :)

The basic theme of MPB's is that all of the needs of the plant are not just met but perfectly met. To give an example a good waterfarm plant migh produce between 4-6 oz of meds per plant. With MPB's we are looking at 2-5 pounds per plant. There is no shortcut to doing this. You either pony up 10-15k to do it proper, or you buy a waterfarm and 2 1k hps.. Its kinda like comparing a EVO with a Bugatti Veyron.. Sure, the EVO is affordable and works well. But they Veyron is light years beyond it.... :P

Oh what I would give for a Veyron.. One testicle for sure. I'd have to really think about 2 testies for a veyron.. But not too long HAHHA!

Lost, What do you think about 4 1000W HPS vertical and soil. Flushing once a week and really pouring on the nutes. Whats the best yield you could expect with say a G13 or??
TIA

SLR342, Sorry for the thread jack..............

its hard to get over a lb a light in soil, if your cranking co2 and have ideal conditions with a very heavy strain, maybe 1.5 per light.

Sorry WM, Im just not a soil guy. I started in DWC and have stuck it out. I have grown a number of plants in soil, but im really just a novice in soil..

Honestly, with my admittedly low soil experience, I would think that given say a 20 gallon smartpot or something, that 8 OZ would be attainable per plant, maybe 12? Again i'm no expert in soil or anything muchless, but you should be able to pull 3-7 lbs? does that sound right? My experience with g13 is limited, but it so far is the most voracious plant I have seen, minus its poor rooting tendancies...

I really like what is being done here with these. I think if I try them I will def just use cool tubes sucking air out instead of ac or any of that. I also would probably use some of thoes new 600w leds above them. They produce no heat, are said to equal 2k+ hps and are ideal light spectrum.

Check this out this is the one I am getting...

You cant neglect the top light and with these new 300 and 600 w leds you are able to get extradinary production out of the top which is arguably the best part.
I would love to try these sytems with 600w leds for each plant!

you would be better off using coco or chow mix than soil. you can crack 2 a light or more with coco dtw. my rhino was just under 2lb in a 5 gallon bucket its sitting in a pet smart 20 gallon container but the roots never left the bucket. i think a 20 gallon smart pot would get you some big yields longer veg time than the mpb.

Big vert trees with soil take way too long to veg to make it really worthwhile. It's like watching paint dry, you don't want to do it unless you have too legally and even then all you'll do is spend that whole time wishing you had this kind of setup now that you've seen it.

I did manage once to get 2-2.5 per light at the very best, but that was also scrogged vertical. However when you figure in the veg time that took and extra finish time soil always takes it translates to more like 1lb per light maybe at best compared to faster methods.
