Hope I did it right and big lesson to myself I used scissors for the one and didn't like how it was cutting so I got an x-acto knife and did the other don't use scissors also put fresh aloe plant on the one that didn't get fazed by the manifold

i watch youtube videos and ask alot of people in dm's ... i use scissors from the kitchen to defoliate. cut stems etc. im a newbie tho and alot of my advice is originated here on the farm
in DM's askin the right people... if im understanding you are mainlining... look for mainlining videos on youtube. Gots lots of great info on youtube. Hope you solve your issue!

Good mainlining article

Here’s a pretty comprehensive step-by-step explanation with pics.

One thing I recommend is leaving more of a stump when you make the cuts. It provides added strength as increasing weight puts a strain on the joint. I cut it too short once and the joint supporting two large branches just split due to the absence of that stump. You can wire it up in advance to prevent splitting, though.

I try and leave a quarter inch stump minimum.

Yes that would be too much.

The sucker or new branch has been taken off.

You leave the leaf with the growth.

I tried a modification of the standard manifolding procedure.

Since leaves generate the energy for plant growth, instead of completely cleaning off the stem below the surviving node, I only remove the lower branches. I allow all the leaves to stay until they get shaded out, then they can come off, too.

Never understood why I should remove perfectly good leaves on a seedling when they can stay a while and contribute to a tender plant’s growth.

Here’s a pic of a Mimosa x Orange Punch photo fem. You can see the large stem leaves in the center down under the small branching new growth. Note the stumps left behind at top and bottom after the second cuts.

Hey, I'm a topping nut...I can't help myself...its in my gene's....you see that little nub on the top?...I pinch it off leaving the 2 side sprouts to grow....no scissors it pops right off when its big enough to pinch.....If I see 2 sprouts under the main stalk and there's a little nub on the top and I'm not in the last week getting ready to flip...I'll top

Yes some time...it depends on the plant ant the height already....Sometimes they shoot up too fast and I don't have anywhere to move them.....I'll top.....1 week is a bit short but it all gets lost in the multitude of tops and plants I'm growing some maybe short cause I topped too late but its that or fry on my lights.....

wow. How are your buds affected? Smaller yeild? Ive been informed that topping takes energy away from the flower bud or something to that extent.

What it does is split the whole plant energy to more sites rather than one giant main stem cola. Does it look as impressive as the giant cola? No but you'll reduce your chances of bud rot and you won't have to separate your flowers at dry time because the little ones are drying faster than the big colas.

I would also suggest that you master basic dirt growing before you jump into other methods. That's not to say don't experiment because many times that's where a lot of the "AHA" moments happen but get a good grasp of soil growing and all the trials and tribulations that go along with it will help you when you do your experiments.

I don't really care if the buds are real big, they only look good for pics and I break them apart when jarring / Grove bagging anyways, I get more mass with more heads but it gets to a point of over topping. I topped one a few years back 50 times at least and a lot was lost in the bottom 1/3 of the plant and far too much foliage to deal with 4-5-6-7-8 times now depending on how long in veg, some just 2 -3 times others once..

In my opinion i think they can. I cut off accidently bending too much from HST training thinking i was gona lose the whole branch but left it just in case. And boom they healed up and got an elbow , albiet small one.
