There are many super-advanced, sophisticated growers on here that supply for collectives or grow on a much larger commercial scale than I care to.
Personally, I'm interested in producing just enough high-quality buds for me and a few of my closest friends to enjoy using as little effort as possible with as little cost as possible. I certainly enjoy the hobby, but I lack the free time to invest in a more intensive or larger operation.
So, I'm going to make as complete a diary as I can of my ultra-cheap 2.5ftx2.5ft tent with my lovely 600w HPS complete with magnetic ballast. I'll post some pics of the setup a bit later.
This time around, I'll be filling my tent with 25 clones of my favorite mommy that came from bagseed out of a sack of Shoreline. They're almost done...I'll post some pics in a bit. The lid came off of their cloning container today for good!!
MY SOIL MIX
My favorite thing about a sea of green grow with soil is that when you get a new strain, you can experiment with a bunch of different mixes to see what works best for that particular strain, and get it pretty down pat in a single grow (most of the time lol). I know that my bagseed mommy likes a boatload of nitrogen, so this particular mix might run a bit nitrogen-rich for less hungry strains. If you want to experiment on a new strain, run certain plants with blood meal ranging from about 1/4th of what's listed in my recipe up to what's listed in my recipe (on the high end). For the plants with less bloodmeal, you might want to run a bit less bonemeal too on a few just to get more observations of what happens at different nutrient levels. Make sure to take notes of what's happening at different points in the grow. Here's the magic recipe for my bagseed mommy:
A 1.25 cu ft bag of Miracle Grow Potting Soil (cheap)
2 and 2/3rds cups of bone meal
1 and 1/3rd cup of blood meal
1/2 cup of epsom salt
1 cup of crushed dolomite/agricultural lime (NOT hydrated garden lime)
1/3rd of a 25 lbs bag of composted cow manure (super cheap at most hardware stores...check the pallets in the outdoor garden areas)
4 quarts of perlite
1/2 of a *crushed* Mosquito Dunk (to stave off fungus gnats/mosquito larvae without poisoning me too much)
I also use 2-3 cups of vermiculite, but that's probably optional...
--Let this mix sit for about a week before you use it. Make sure to mix this up REALLY well, because if you get hot spots of blood meal, you'll burn the shiznit out of your plants. I usually mix it again after it has sat for a week.
For 25 milk jugs (my pots) full of the clones, I'll need 2 batches of this recipe. I also mix up part of a batch (or use what's left of the original) as a top dressing about halfway through the grow.
Ok...now to go run take some pics!!
