Strain: Watermelon Mimosa (seed)
Soil: 50% coco coir, 10% perlite, 40% oceanforest.

Nutrients: FPJ for phytohormones, compost tea for microbes, vigoro 29-0-4 for vegetative growth stage increase, and miracle grow 24-8-16 from week 8 to finish
.
I planted my seed directly into my soil mixture, and fed it with just FPJ for the first 4 weeks. I then top dressed with compost around week 6. I was also foliar feeding FPJ almost daily.

During this time I carried my plant from one side of my house to the other around noon, then back again after sunset. This gave me an extra 3 hours of direct sunlight in the morning. (Like moving it from the east facing side of a hill to the west facing side)

At week 8 around the end of June, I stopped moving my plant and stopped getting those extra 3 hours in the morning (like leaving it on the west facing side). My plant stretched and grew as if to flower, then started to turn yellow and drooped as it ran short on nutrients. I then spread vigoro 29-0-4 over the top of my soil lightly (yes the lawn fertilizer) and stopped using the FPJs. You can see in the pictures where this occurred.

My plant then went back to dark green within 3 days, and because it was still June, and had been saturated with nitrogen, went back into veg.

I then started feeding with miracle grow 24-8-16 at a rate of 3 tbs/5gal daily and weekly compost tea feedings for microbes.

Now I’m just going through the flowering phase and we’ll see how it turns out finishing with miracle grow and compost tea.

Looking good but unfortunately the flowering stage won’t go as smooth, it’s amazing how it grows without these line of nutrients, shame about the final product though… keep on growin’

What type of issues will I face with flowering? I can adjust to most things if I know what to expect

This is what my miracle grow mixture did on a clone that didn’t want to revert to veg-

I just checked with my Home Depot. They have plenty of Miracle on hand and I'm heading that way. I hope I can get similar results with my indoor autos.

People trip of “slow time-released nitrogen”… which is confusing.. you want nitrogen in your flowering phase, and slow time release = less chance of burning your plants. How do you over-fertilize with something that is time released :)!

the only thing that miracle grow lacks is a microbial component. Just brew compost tea and alternate your feedings.

Also make sure to use soil that won’t hold onto large amounts of miracle grow.. coco coir can only hold so much as a fiber, which lets your extra nutes run off.

Oh and… fabric pots may actually accumulate nutrient surpluses in their material that can toxify your rootzone

I've grown in Miracle-Gro and didn't have any noticeable issues. I don't use it now, though, because I mix my soil. For me, the learning curve for soil has been a long one. I haven't used the same mix twice because I'm constantly trying new ideas. I also reuse soil.
