My neighbor picked up some 20 and 40 year old seeds from her lake cabin friends. The 20 year old batch, I managed to sprout a few and grabbed and cloaned a female. The 40 year old batch I’m having no luck. I have soaked in 25% peroxide solution ( then papertowel) , I’ve scuffed a few , sanded a few , clipped a few with no luck at all. They are all in damp paper towel on a warm receiver . My last effort I know of , might just be to plant a few in dirt the old way. 🤔. Any other tricks I can try ? Thanks
Zygote must have some sugar of some kind .id suggest youtubing "embryo rescue " cannabis seeds ect ..theres also a guy who sells a kit also on youtube " keyword " germinate old cannabis seeds ..there was a hightimes artle on "turning seeds on with 660 red light " also googlable .

Uugghhh I need that article …..😭…. Haha just kiddin . I’ll do some more research with you . My girlfriend told me to throw them in the freezer , and I didn’t listen . Now you give me the referral , I had to tell her about the freezer advice , just to make her feel good 😇

I think that is the tree, but that article says they just planted it...I..

No......they did not just plant it......they did something with it and that is the article I'm looking for.....

I promise I'll look tomorrow for it......

That’s pretty awesome!

On a side note “But all was not lost, because in 1963, the late archeologist Yigael Yadin began excavating Masada, a mountaintop fortress built over 2,000 years ago on the shore of the Dead Sea where King Herod built a spectacular palace. Masada was the last stand of a small band of Jewish rebels who held out against three Roman legions for several years before committing mass suicide in A.D. 73.”

Mossad is Israel’s version of the see I ehhhh.

Wow ! Thanks for all these suggestions . If I get a skunker or a stinker of sorts , my goal is to clone it ( another area I struggle …leave that for next topic 😂) and then make feminize seeds . I’ll have to share with everyone here

That’s some interesting stuff. The video makes a lot of sense. I didn’t think cleaning seeds were that important . ✊🏽
That is probably the main reason most, use peroxide/ water....

If there's any fungal or anything on it, it gets rid of any contaminates......

I want my seeds to live a long and prosperous life....

If I plant a seed with mold or mildew on it, all that gets set in your medium also....

Then you wonder how you got the white shot or whatever else in your grow....

Cleanliness is almost, if not as important as the rest of your setup......

Without the cleanliness , that $4000 light isn't going to help.....

plus peroxide also helps seed shells become more permeable afaik.

Here they are after trying the original methods , as well as cracking as many as I thought with my teeth 🦷. Been a week I’m guessing

Keep them going ........

Usually, if a seed is bad, it'll show brown on the paper towel.....

They very well might want to pop.....

Don't give up on them yet.....

Nothing to lose, everything to gain........

Morning, Older seeds if not stored properly will probably be hard to impossible to germ. Heat is the enemy of seed storage and will render them unviable. I'd stick with he paper towel method. Keepum warm, moist, and let them breathe. You might have some really good old school cultivars. Good luck , Chubby

Soak 24 hours,
Wet paper towel in a cd holder,
77f heating pad set at,
Let sit in paper towels Fer a few days,
None popped by then?
Take seed one at a time,
Place in mouth,
Carefully with your front teeth crack the seal,
Put back in paper towel few more days,
None popped by then?
Carefully pull seed apart,
And view anatomy,
If you find brown connection from embryo to seed, seed is no bweno
I like to take a razor blade and carefully cut into the top part of the seed, essentially "scoring" it so water can get inside. This helps tremendously with old seeds. If that doesn't do it, it's just non-viable.

Thanks for this , do you mean the top being the pointy part ?
