So I'm at the end of the first week of the curing stage in my glass jars. I noticed the other day when I was burping that my three biggest nicest tightest nugs had a white spider web looking shit, which I quickly realize was The fucking dreaded mold! I just wonder if it caught it during flowering their autos by the way, or was it drying in the tent the first day of drying the tent? My temperature got about 85° for a couple of hours one time and then I remediated it. So it stayed under 73 Max average about 70 RH 50 to 60. I guess my question is is there something else I can do? I have the 58% RH bags in each jar. Is there anything more I can do to prevent more of my buds from getting tossed in the trash can and it broke my heart? I guess it made sense. That's the biggest tightest ones. Densest ones got the mold. What else could I do?

I would say you put it in jars too wet if it molded in the jar.
I didn't wait until they snapped when I bend them like I did the first time and had no issues. Granted. The buds weren't as dense but I'm pretty sure you're right. Appreciate it. Does anybody know of anything I can do? Besides, I put the 50% RH pouches in each jar and I've been burping twice a day for the first week. What else is there to do if anything?

I still rely on the mini hygrometers to a certain extent! They may not be the most accurate things in the world, but they are better than just guessing! And you could try getting a couple of grove bags, and getting things stabilized in them before you put them into the jars long-term if you do. No matter what you put them in they need to be down to the mid 60s or lower Before you bag or jar them up to lessen the chances of mold! And while they are hanging, I always have the air moving around them a little with a fan! Day and night! Good luck

Sorry about your unfortunate lesson which it was. I put the biggest buds in a paper sack for a day if they hang dry completly and i'm trimming lower smaller buds.

60/60
60 degrees F and 60 percent RH I have cured weed in my garage and in warehouse for 4 or 5 months.
Never cured weed in a glass jar. How does the buds get ventilation and not mold ?
IMO cooler longer cures makes the flavor of the weed taste better and you get a better grade of weed .

UV-C lighting emits a deadly o zone ,,, about 14 ph it kills fungi. how much weed is moldy ?
Microwaving weed will kill the fungi
Hydrogen peroxide soak and dry the weed.
Make weed into bubble has or a extract.

Yeah I've got a mini hydro.in each jar with 58% r.h pouches in each also. I guess really that's all I can do. I will check into the growth bags. Thanks a lot man

I don’t use the pouches! But a lot of people do. The bags are supposed to regulate it! All you have to do is get it close! Reckon that’s the part you have to figure out!

I don’t use the grove bags but I do use the bovida packs in my gallon mason jars with a mini hydrometer,

A few hours at 85f at the initial beginning of drying I doubt did it, most likely had mold spores prior to being jarred then being confined made it accelerate the growth of the mold, 70f and 60%RH is doable for dry, that’s where I am right now, and have been holding for about 6 days now, it’s about average for me temp and RH% when I dry, and that’s with a 4500sq ft AC cooling the lung room if I try to drop below 70 my RH drops to 45% in the tent so I keep it steady there, I’ve done multiple dries like this without any mold issue, and like @Oldchucky said at least some air movement, I run a tower fan on low from one side and a 16” desk oscillating fan on the other side pointing straight across the floor not at the buds (lotta space it’s a 4x8)

If achievable 60f/60RH is the ideal spot
