Sovereign Farmers & Xochitls Seeds sent me some LANDRACE INDICA beans collected from Sovereign Farmer’s personal family farm near Gilgit-Balistan in the Hopar Valley of Pakistan for me to test grow for them πŸ€™πŸ½

The beans arrived yesterday, safe and sound ☺️

Nice to meet you. Always a pleasure to bump into other fellow Oregon growers. I’m in Oregon too and yup I do have a greenhouse.

Don’t worry, I got it 😁. I actually used to be a breeder in here back in the day (2010-2012 era) til I got raided locally for being a seedbank in 2011 (Obama Administration Style β€œsmash and grab raid”). They seized my cash and bank accounts and forced me to sign the forfeiture paper work or β€œface federal indictment”… but left me and my medical card alone (after I forfeited everything).

Some breeders still use my old work like, β€œChem Soda”

When rec started in Oregon (2015), I couldn’t participate in it as a grower for 10 years (because that’s how the law was originally written). So I helped my friends start their rec farms instead.

But my ban is being lifted next year… and I got carded up for medical this year to celebrate!!

Even though it’s been MORE than a decade since I been at it (for myself)… I still remember how to ride this bike.

This is some Lemon Cherry Gelato [archive cut] (off-season outdoor; Winter 2023/Spring 2024; greenhouse grown)

These are some of my other outdoor plants rn

The Results in < 48 hours

[9/10 popped] 1 turned to mush. Gonna let them germ a bit more so the seed coat can open up, then I’ll get them planted in some dirt

Did a few things to try to get that last seed to pop. 9 out of 10 popped in < 48 hours isn’t a bad germ rate at all. But I’m pretty sure I can still get that last one to start too

The only reason the seed at the very top didn’t pop for me was because… somewhere in its lifetime… a rogue mold spore landed on it. Which unfortunately, took off before the seed did.

So I cleaned the seed off (bleach free) and tried again πŸ˜‰

I washed the ungerminated seed with rubbing alcohol while gently rubbing the surface off with a hand towel, then I splashed it with more rubbing alcohol and flamed it with a lighter enough times on each side to ensure that any remaining mold spores were 100% dead. Then I clipped the tip of the seed off with my trusty β€œjust for seed” nail clipper and put it back into some NEW water. But this time with about 5ml of H2O2 poured in it to lift the sunken seed back to the surface (so it has a 50/50 air:water ratio) & to prevent any more mold outbreaks from happening

The inside of the seed was still dry. So it should still pop once water becomes available to the enzymes in the seed that trigger germination

Seed coats split wide enough for me to remove them from the cotyledons, so I’ll be doing that and putting the seeds in dirt today (with cotyledon leaves planted above ground)

Hello,
Monkey D luffy, Thank your for testing the Genetics for me.
The seeds were sourced with nothing but love. I am glad they landed to you safely.
below is the photo of the plant from which the seeds are gathered. and link to the post

Plant description:
Selection (1) 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒍𝒆 π’ƒπ’π’‚π’„π’Œ - shorter bushier type of growth structure. Bulbous round trichome heads. Turns dark purple throughout the whole plant later in flower. Terps are hints of sweet with peach sour nuances with hints of petrol and nuttiness.
All the Valley of Nagar does not have medical care; it only survives on Herbs for illnesses. Cannabis is also part of our culture and the tribes here use it for medicine or Drug ( hashish, Chars, Garida) and Culinary (seeds and seed oils) for centuries. The seeds are sown in May until June and harvest is in September-October. The flowering period is upto 9 weeks.

Trying a few land, races or heirlooms, or whatever you want to call them, myself this year! Will be following along! Good luck! πŸ˜πŸ’
Thanks Old Chuck. Happy to have you following along ☺️. The first strain I ever grew was my Uncle Joe’s mango selection of the 1968 Saipan Sativa (24 week / 6 month flowering time). And everything since then has been hybrid clone or seed bred in the USA or NL. So I’m VERY excited to grow these landrace indicas out (to finally see pure field sample collections of the opposite end of the spectrum that I originally started at).

I’m also growing the 2022 collection of Quetta, Balochistan (Pakistan) β€œPurple XXL” which are already all sexed out and about to go into the light dep soon. Just took another round of clones of them last night before I flip them.

And I can’t wait!!! To run Airborne G13 S1 (to make my S2 [feminised f3] selection of the original cut) during the winter time 😁

A pic of one of the Balochistans (taken a few weeks back)
