Hows it goin everyone! Im a new grower lookin to learn as much as possible! I have a plant growing in a 2x2x4 vivosun tent, started her from seed in some Purple Cow Indicanja soil in a fabric pot, I think the pot is 3 gallon but it said it was 5 gallon when I bought it lol. Im 29 days in from planting the seed, took about 4 days to sprout so shes about 25 days old at this point. Let me know what you guys think!

So I was thinking that this is a very nice plant. You need to make some tie down steaks and steak the bottom row of branches down just above the soil asap. Keep them just above the soil all the way out past the sides of the bag using several steaks on each branch if you need.

Then do the same with the next row of branches. Pull them down 45 deg and tie them to steaks with string or wire keep moving the tie downs out as the branches get longer.

Now the important part. See the leaf with the burned tip. Front right. Remove it and all the top leaves like it. Do not remove the top bud
in the middle or the new branches forming around the centre bud. Just the 4 large leaves.

This will let light hit the 2 new branches growing just bellow them and they will start growing. The leaves you remove will be replaced in a few days
as the bud you did not cut off grows. Simply do the same thing again. Gently pull the branches growing out to 45 and tie them. Let the top of the plant grow. Every few days remove the top 2 new leaves so the light hits the new branches forming just bellow.

In 30 days your plant will fill up your tent nicely for you. The lower branches you tie down first will turn up at the edge of the bag and you will end up with a super bushy little plant with a nice even canopy for flowering. Hope this helps you.

Tie down steaks. You know the marker flags the utility companies use. Grab a bundle at the hardware they are cheep. Cut them to length and put a hook on the top you can put over low branches or tie string to for higher branches.

This is exactly why a joined this forum :)

Thanks for the info! I think I understand what youre saying. Basically pop off the couple top fan leaves and bend the new growth so it grows outward rather than upward.

I just topped her about 4 days ago, do you think it would stress too much if i popped thos fan leaves off today or should I wait until my next watering? Just watered her yesterday.

Appreciate the help!

If you topped her, there is no longer a bud at the top of the stalk. What I posted will no longer work. The 2 stalks I have highlighted will become main stalks. correct? I cannot see where you topped her. Maybe try this way next seed instead of topping. It takes a day or so for the new branches to get long enough to pull down. They are tender so be careful with them. This creates room for branches forming above and this kind of training makes for real nice plants. Consider what I posted above for your next plant. Yes, removing the fan leaves allows light to hit the lower nodes and the branches grow way faster. So pulling them down and tying them in place creates room for new growth forming above. Be patient, this slows the plant down a bit as the plant is growing stalks a set a week. But in a few weeks the plant will be incredible.

Your plant looks a little short for topping. Always start topping at the 5h node. As you have already topped her please watch these videos.
I'm sure you will enjoy them. Ron

Ah damn youre right, my pictures dont show the topped part very clearly. I believe i did wait until the 5th node appeared before topping, il take some pictures tonight after work and post so you can see what im seein.

I did some reading online before i got this plant going, and the couple places i went (groweedeasy.com, this forum and a couple others) were all saying to top the plant between 3 and 5 nodes, so im glad to see another person agree with that.

As for your question about the main stalks, im unsure right now. I think youre right, but the new pictures should help clarify things a bit.

Thanks for your help! This is my first plant ever so all feedback is much appreciated :)

Heres a few more pictures, hopefully they give a little more detail.

Does anyone think she might stress too much if i trim a few fan leaves off today? I topped her 4 days ago. I dont feel like it should cause a lot of stress since wer in veg stage but i wanna make sure before i commit.

And to answer your question @Imzzaudae, those stalks you had highlighted were not the main stalks, the main ones were 1 node above that haha hard to see in those first pictures, my bad. The new ones should give some better viewpoints :)

Shes bushin out good now :) looks like this could be a really purple strain if I could keep the temps low enough. Unfortunately I live in AZ so thats hard to do... Definitely an indica (Platinum Garlic OG from Triple Seven if anyone was wondering) really excited to see how this turns out.

Anyone have any recommendations on when to get her flowering? Only about 30 days after sprout so far

shouldn’t top plants until maturity, usually 10-15th node,.. (uneven branching),..
