I don't see any reason to give up.

I've only tried to grow 1 auto, it's almost ready to harvest now but the pic below was mine at 8 days old which looks similar size as yours.

I have one also that for whatever reason is slow but is making progress. Could of been my fault could be a flunky seed but i've kept it and i'm even training it LOL just bent over did LST. I don't know if i'll get anything off of it but it's in the tent surrounded by photoperiods and in a 1gal container so why not? 8-20 8-27 8-31 9-6 Her head today is already looking at the light.

and to add to my last post,

It seems as if Autos start kind of like photoperiods, seedling stage is a little slow.
Once they get past that stage, they take off and develop faster though.

The picture in my last post was 8 days old, the picture in this post is 9 days later so 17 days old

As you can see it took right off after that initial seedling stage
