So I’m guessing that this Strawberry Lemonade is taking after a grandparent or something of the sort because any photos I’ve seen from others that have grown this strain out, it looks way more “hybrid” in appearance!

It’s just weird to me how sparse and lanky this thing is, and the other photo is other plants in the same tent looking “normal” hahaha.

Thoughts?

At first glance, you would be tempted to say, not enough light! But from what I can see the branches, don’t look abnormally thin! Interesting! Got some serious, internodal spacing going on there!

I have an outdoor "mystery sativa" plant like that. No idea what cultivar it actually is. It's super "stretchy" with a lot of space between nodes. It's outdoors in full sun all day, so I know it's not a light issue. But now that it's flowering it's stacking buds like crazy and filling in every inch of that space. Probably going to be a 1+ lb. plant if it finishes properly. Will have to finish indoors though, because we don't have long enough season to finish most pure sativas in my part of CO.

I have ran a few thin plants in my day. Definitely recall a purple haze that grew just like that under hps light. It was a terrible yield of awesome smoke. I haven't grown a sativa since. I'm thinking of putting some out next year thought. Somas nyc diesel looks promising. I hope she puts on something for you. I'm staying tuned in to see how she smokes

I know! I’ve been blasting them with almost too much light!!! And for all intents and purposes, the branches are normal size and everything looks to be pretty healthy and what not…but suuuuuper thin leaves and not a ton of foliage! I haven’t even pulled hardly any leaves, and have basically pruned off the lowers…it just boggles my mind. But yeah…they’re getting 800-900ppfd of light or more! I assume it’s just genetics. Also there are some weird mutations…like two different nodes that have 3 and 4 branches instead of two as well as fan leaves! So I dare say that the genetics haven’t been fully line bred, and are probably a bunch of S1 or R1 generation seeds that could be like either parent, both parents, grandparents, great, great grandparents, and whatever else comes up. So either I got a weird seed that just grows completely different than any of their other seeds of this batch or Barney’s farm white labels or puts out quick crosses that haven’t really been tested 🤷🏻🤷🏻

Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 lol. It’s a sativa strawberry x lemon og….so could also be the little golf balls like og has mixed with sativa lol. I’ll keep posting updates! I think it’s weird too that the other two don’t look anything like it at all…same cultivar lol.

Does it have the thinnest fingered leaves? lol. That’s what threw me because they’re soooo thin!! Not a ton of fingers, but so so thin.

You never know! Look at GNick’s kumaoni. The thing grew about a foot a week! From the get-go! Of course, don’t try and tell him that it wasn’t his superlative gardening skills! L O L! If you traced that plants lineage And converted it to a human equivalent, it would be like a family tree going back to zero AD! Plenty of weird expressions hidden in there!

Real sativas are like girls on spike heels and rubber ankles, yes means no, no means yes And baggage from there great great great great grandparents relationship with mental health issues....

I took cuttings during veg from it, and going to see if they grow the same way in a different medium or if it’s just genetic lol. I’m curious though!

Still though…

I’ll post photos as things progress!

So some land race sativas can definitely get light and fluffy in the bud department.
After dry and cure you could still see daylight through buds.

But imo , sativas like that that are still bred native. Are great for breeding purposes, the beginning building blocks of all the crazy bastardized strains we hold dear.
Say what you will, but you example here, it’s actually nice, internodal spacing could be closer. But at the same time,
Some sativas still veg pretty hard In flower.
Meaning like a classic sativa, it lit is going to be tall and lanky, them smaller bud sites, aren’t that small, it’s just that the plants are so big in flower that the perception can be thrown off in that way, they yield well👊🏻🤡

This is a real sativa. She is a Columbian Gold plant grown from 1975 bag seed bought in SoCal before Cali turned into a state of the art looney libtard shit hole. She was in flower for 20 weeks before harvest. She was a major pain in the ass to grow just like all her insane sisters. The last of her kind in my grow world. The smoke was harsh and down right nasty. But four hits,,, she ripped the top of your skull off, spit on your brain, made you see tracers and colors like you were tripping on a microdose of LSD. Munchies and cotton mouth that did not end and to damn stoned to do anything about any of it. Real sativas will make you question your sanity. And with some folks paranoia like a really bad trip. I saw a dude ride his motorcycle through a garage wall into a pool after a real thai stick bong-a-thong back in the day. I miss real sativas. I still have a few grams of her concentrate in the freezer for my mental health. Once in a while I get whats left out carve a few slivers off the shrinking block. Put it on top of a bowl. Take a couple of rips get on one of my motorcycles and I'm back in Socal ripping ass and seeing tracers at a 100 mph. I'm young again and don't give two shits what anybody thinks. I miss real weed really bad....

Thanks Cap!
Today is the next to last day of week 3 of flower, and you’re right about still growing when others slow down…this plant is still stretching, and you can just tell that the other two are just further in the process of flowering. Such an incredible plant cannabis is lol. I’m glad I took some cuttings earlier, and maybe I’ll reverse one just to see what happens when crossed with a shorter Northern Lights pheno that I love. Endless possibilities! And that’s why I love this plant! It’s never the same experience twice!

So here we are day one of week 5, and these suckers are actually filling in!!!

Check it out!

The last photo is of the mongoloid bud that looks like two buds growing together, and this is the same branch that has 2 branches on either side instead of just one.

Still have brown spots spreading from the bottom up!

Tried cal mag.

Tried compost tea.

And now the last thing I can possibly think of is that the very bottom of the pot is staying too wet or something.

🤷🏻

These plants are often my favorites lol

there is a good reason i rave about those high node spaced lanky sativas for outdoor. Tend to be very fungi resistant as well. Can take a lot of pruning and topping to be worth it indoors with plants like that. but they let light deep and can develop all the way down and fill an entire space if you train em right.

Working on a lb or 2 of Columbian dominant flowers RN. High node spaced giant near pure sativa.

These plants can be very picky indoors. Nutrient levels. Very ph sensitive usually. Are usually pretty good at taking wet roots though. Can get rust spots if ya look at em wrong and light burn under LEDs real easy quite often. They can be tricky to take all the way indoors under LED in a tent. Even for experienced growers.

No idea lol.

Gonna just hope it doesn’t get too crazy before harvest!
