On Sept. 27 I posted pics of my two plants and was told they were probably 2-3 weeks away from harvest. This is my first time growing so I could definitely use some expert opinions from y'all. These are pics from today of a cola from one of the plants. It looks like the pistils are starting to turn darker now but I'm a newb at this. Also I have lots of trichomes but I'm not sure what I'm looking for as far as maturity/harvest - help! I'm in Ohio and the weather is getting cooler, especially at night - upper 60s day and mid-upper 30s and 40s night. Both plants are in 10" pots and I've been bringing them into the basement at night, then back outside for natural sunlight and air circulation through the day. I'm just wondering if I should be doing anything differently considering the dropping temps. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I hope that I'm not becoming a pita.

I think you are doing the right thing by bringing them in at night. Be sure there’s NO light down there. Definitely need a few more weeks, but great looking plants!!

What kind of strain is this? No, they are not ready yet. they should ideally be between 8 and 9 weeks in flower and other strains have 10 - 11 even. When 70 - 80% of all the pistils turn orange or brown, but it depends on the strain and when the trichomes are milky white to cloudy, they are usually ready for harvesting.

If it’s not getting below freezing, I would be inclined to leave them outside! Might put a little color in their cheeks! Or leave one out and bring one in and see if there’s any big difference! Just two cents!

Hey jfm......some pitas are alright....🥸

They definitely have a few to go....they look good.....bringing them in and out every day is dedication.....

Any chance of getting or building a small greenhouse for them....I believe @Mikedin just built one recently.....

This is the exact same picture you used two weeks ago when you asked and the second picture is just a zoomed in version of the first.

great plant! Probably ready. You look at the color of the trichomes, use magnifying glass. If they are all transparent - too early, if they are all milky white - harvest. You can also wait till they start to become amberly colored, that will make the THC less potent but helps with other cannabinoids formation - I would not recommend doing that on a first grow

Looks like it has 3 weeks or so. I’m in central ohio. We have a couple really cold nights coming. I would leave them out and only bring them in on the nights it’s getting into the 30s. We haven’t had any frost yet. Let mother nature do her thing. You’ll probably get to a point in the next couple weeks that you have to bring them in every night but it definitely doesn’t look ready yet. It is a nice looking plant though. Also….. watch the caterpillars. They’re pretty bad this year. I know multiple people that have had major problems with them in central ohio all the way to the Dayton area.

Yeah just something to cover it really, she’s takin a beating up here in the northeast as well. Lotta wind ripped her plastic so she’s got screen sides just glad the top is solid clear corrugated so she’s never gotten rain on her buds and wide open airflow but these cold nights…. Hard to fight lol

Thanks. Being a first timer I'm just a bit excited and also somewhat anxious because of the cool weather this time of year.

Thanks for that info. I have no idea regarding the strain. A friend gave me two plants when they were about 3" tall, and she got the seeds from a friend. I lucked out and both plants were female!

Thank you sir! And yes, basement is pitch black at night.

You're half right! Yes, second pic is a crop of the first in order to show small details better. But the picture was taken yesterday.

I’m full right ha but Fr though bro you might’ve uploaded the wrong pictures for this post. I just want to make sure you’re not waiting to long to harvest

If it’s not getting down into the freezing range, I’d be inclined to let her stay outside. The cold temps will def bring out some colors……and I’ve always thought it kicked the plant in the ass to finish…..
Regardless she’s got a few weeks left from the looks of things now.
