well i have to officially give up .. had a thread going in the diaries but im to depressed to find it

i tried hard , but things just don't seem to want to work out for me . i am disabled and live on what's left of a previous life . i had to scrimp and scrape to save up for soil and electric so i used some old bag seeds .
got started , sexed the plants and thought i had all females .. a second and third opinion agreed with me . then my cheap china light let out the magic smoke . found a home for the plants with another friend who also agreed we had three fems .
then i got lucky and found another cheap light at the flea market , brought the plants home and they took off .

then last week pollen sacks started showing on two plants ...... i cursed and cursed and chopped them down . the third still looked fem to me and so i soldered on , i can make 1 plant work .
within a couple days the third was looking awful sus , but i kept going till 100% sure .


today is the day of not being able to fool myself any longer ... plant is in the trash and my crappy light and tent have been evicted to a life of neglect out in my shed .

i have nothing to start over with and no funds to finance another attempt . it was fun for awhile .......

Im sorry man but dont give up, if you cant do it right now maybe someone can help you (I cant I live in Spain cant send you seeds). Where did you get those seeds? Probably the light change made them herm but if they all did they were predisposed, wouldnt they be seeds from an hermy?

this wasn't bad genetics or anything like that ... just me getting it wrong when sexing .
would love to have someplace else to place the blame .

seeds wont do me any good at this point , cant keep things warm enough to grow past December and quite frankly i cant take the mental toll of trying to do this with half assed equipment any longer .

If those seeds came from flowers they were most likely hermy genetics and when you changed their light (thats a no no mid grow but sometimes you cant do much) they got stressed and hermed. I had that happen to me with stable genetics, would have been much worse with hermy seeds or unstable genetics, only 1 out of 4 hermed on me when I had to swap lights mid grow. I can see pistils in that plant also so its definetely an hermy not a male.

Its okay take your time if you need but you dont need AC or huimdifiers or dehumidifiers, I have none of that and Im very happy with what I grow. Ideally you want to have it but if youre broke like me then you need the tent, the lights, intraction and extraction fan and a thermohygrometer. My set up is really unexpensive.
About the winter, your lights are your stove, I never stop planting and I dont have AC. If you put the light period during the night they wont get as cold. Trust me they can endure suboptimal temperatures and you will probably get blue winter colors in the leaves which is pretty cool. My problem is summer because the temperature goes to 35ºC and that makes the weed less tasty but I still cant complain about my summer grows, pretty good. And then again, putting the lights on at night helps so they dont get all the heat from the lights during the hot days.

Hey bud... don't despair or give up.. make a new plan.. take your time... put it together... plan an out door grow (if you can... way cheaper) ... start one in the window now.. keep it going with 15 watt bulb... stick it in the ground when temps are right... grow a 6 to 8 feet monster.. you can do it...

I kept a clone alive all thru winter in the basement with temps in low 60 F ... and I'm about to do it again for 2025... yeaaaaa

By the way... I posted to your thread... didn't see it pop up.. might be where it's posted....

it gets you three extra seeds. three extra tries at some weed. and they’re autoflower, which people have mixed feels about, but not as light dependent.

Or someone buy something with this code and send it to homie. Farmers unite!

You just were unlucky and when it comes to the seeds its better not to risk it with unkown seeds, youre spending time and resources, there are cheap seeds available that while are not great they wont herm on you most likely, you dont need to buy expensive seeds. About my set up:
Tent: 3x3x6 feet (75 euros)
Fans: 150mm intraction fan (20 euros), 100mm double extraction fan (40 euros)
Extras: Thermohygrometer with probe (10 euros), clip fan to move air inside (12 euros)
Lights: 2x Niello (Chinese generic brand) 130W LED Full Spectrum with IR and UV (65 euros each, so 130 euros).
What Ive been able to accomplish with that, some examples:

And for some examples of cured material 2 different strains, runtz and melonade runtz, in the second video you can see those buds are not fluffy at all, they are very dense and tight so yes, you can get top notch weed with a cheap set up. With these chinese lights its all about playing with the height, unlike expensive LEDs you usuallly wanna keep them close and move them up as the plant grows if needed.

id love to be able to do an outdoor grow , cant legally do it where i live . here in ohio it cant be visible to others and i cant do that . anyone driving down my road could see what I'm up to at a glance .

indoors threw the winter i keep my thermostat at 60f once outside temps drop consistently below freezing so i can buy groceries and pay the electric bill , while i am comfy enough with thick socks and a sweater , i cant even keep houseplants going past January .
adding in a light , let alone one that will provide enough heat stretches things beyond what my pocket will allow without missing meals

I understand about the cold, but maybe past january then? How manny watts is your light? Mind you again that those examples above are with 2 panels of 130W so that makes 260W for a 3x3x6 feet tent.

Just to say, I am on a very limited budget, so my lights are cheapish, but I didn't want to take a chance of having to bother with sexing plants and wasting time and resources, so I bought some inexpensive feminized seeds. They were very reasonably priced and worth not having to hassle with sexing. Thankfully I had a lot of the things I needed already, except the lights and seeds. I've also got my lights on at night so the plants don't get too cold. I can't imagine the frustration you're feeling @CMOT_Dibbler, but I wouldn't give up. As they say, where there's a will, there's a way.

I'm in Ohio too. Cheer up buddy. It could always be worse. Remember that as a man thinketh, so to is he. What part of Ohio are you in?

i tend to get over things quickly , im sure about the next time i get a hot meal in my belly ill be feeling better , had some expectations with this grow once i got the plants back and they was looking so good .

i am in n/e ohio .. im sure youve heard of the rogers sale / flea market . im just down the road a couple miles

Dude I feel ya. I'm sure plenty have been frustrated and felt like throwing in the towel. You DID sex correctly but the stress from the environmental changes caused the plants to herm. Some strains can handle it, others not so much. It happens. You can do everything right and shit still goes sideways. As @Eledin said, you can grow in less than ideal settings. I grew a plant in a leftover wardrobe moving box once. It wasn't impressive by any means but I got decent amount of good smoke from it. I've grown in super hot conditions pushing 1000 watts in a 2x3x4 closet grow with cheap soil and nutes. There is a lot to learn and for me the hardest lesson has been patience. I'm still learning.....and, yes, still working on the patience thing too. Lol So maybe take some time to work out a plan and get what you need a little at a time. Once you have it all in place then maybe invest in good solid genetics. I find that the more work i put into planning my grow, the smoother things go. But shit happens. Murphy never takes a day off.

And it's awesome to see the community rally and support a fellow farmer. You guys rock!!! 😎

I'm in Ohio too. Next spring, we can build you something inexpensive to shield your plants outside, if you want. I'm 3 hours away, but I have some scrap wood and extra time. I would certainly come help you out, if you wanted me to.

Like others have said, don't give up. We've got you and will help however we can.
