After a week of burping my jars twice a day the hay smell still lingers. I know it's gonna take time for that smell to dissappear. I added a 62% humidity regulator to the jar and moved my big buds into one jar and the popcorn ones into another. For mt first grow I feel it's going well. I give them a squeeze and there still stickiness to them and the true smell comes out on my fingers.

Then you need a cure to pull the terps out. Give it time, you goofed the dry up a little is all. If you still have smell inside then the cure should work to pull it out ✌️

My understanding is that keeping buds in the dark deactivates chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is believed to be relatively tasteless, but I've read that it can be a flavor reducer. I've looked into what happens chemically when it is deactivated, and believe it has to do with allowing the terpene flavors to be more present. All that said, I keep my buds as dark as possible, and the weed flavor is excellent. I dry, cure and store them in the dark.

I just put heavy shirts (could use a towel or anything) around my jars that still need burping. Did this so I can prevent light from penetrating my jars, but can still have an open top for air to escape when needed. Clear jar or containers aren't the best for curing cannabis unless kept in complete darkness.

I'm 4 days into a jar cure with one of my Durban Poison plants and with burping, it's already losing the hay smell and taking on a more fruity pleasant aroma. Before it was ready I took some lowers early and did a sloppy 2 week dry and cure with a Frisbee and a jar and while it didn't have a terp smell, once it got a little cured it developed a nice a pine or cedar taste. I'm looking forward to trying the properly cured batch.

My take on curing is if you can get them in the jar when theyre still a little wet, you get more terp aroma but you have to be really careful about molds and mildew if you don't slowly get it drier over a couple days. For example, RH leveled off at 80% in the jar. That has dropped to 65% with 3 days of burping. When it hits 62 I'll throw a boveda pack in the jar to keep it there so burping doesn't affect the RH. If you don't have boveda packs and you are losing RH every time you open the jar when you don't want to, take a couple slow deep breaths into the jar right before you put the lid back on. I've had success raising RH 1-2% using this hack on quart size jars.

Next time definitely gonna use non clear jars. Thanks for info.

I try to keep it as dark as possible. I think I will cover the jars also. Thanks for info.

I am sure over time I will get better and better. Thanks for the info.

Put in a jar, stabilize the humidity to 58-62 whichever is your jam and open them occasionally. Eventually if they'll terps still exist inside, then they will come back. But once they are gone they are gone. The hay/grass smell is chlorophyll , its normal for a short period during drying as it breaks down but should go away. It makes smoke harsh and nasty. The cure can bring out different flavors and smells in cannabis than after it finished drying and or was when the plant was alive, but experiment, its all feel really in the end ✌️

I appreciate everyone's input and advice. It's appreciated. I actually took some of my popcorn buds and ground them up and rolled one.. Actually had a crisp fresh smell of a Lemon Og. Can't wait to try it tonight.
