I had my plant on pure water for a week and then i started the nutrients mix. I put fresh water with the right proportions of advanced nutrients nutrients. 5 days after i see the bucket if full of a brown slime.

What is it? How/Why did it happen?

Do you have an Airpump and stone? maybe the lid is stopping the airflow

What about hydroguard or the likes? If you don't have some beneficial bacteria or aren't running a sterile system that would explain brown slime starting up.

I run dwc without air pumps, and even when I did use them it was hard to get a handle on the slime. What I learned is A) don't use nutrients that have any "organic" ingredients with hydro, B) make sure the roots get enough air contact, and C) use something to prevent bacterial growth, hydroguard, bleach, hydrogen peroxide, etc.

I am now very picky about the nutrients I add. Also have designed my system almost like a flood and drain (my res pump runs on a timer) so that the roots get plenty of air, and I run 3ml/gal of 3% h2O2. Beautiful roots, no slime, plants are happy.
