I’m definitely using pitiful amounts of light on my soon to harvest plants. But I started a lockout so it was just necessary and there ain’t no going back now. Now that you and I have sorted out my Ph kerfuffle in promix, I have hopes of being able to utilize more light next round..
This last run I went away n short story is mate didn’t water came home to wilted crook lookin plants well turned both my gravita 750 pro down to 400 watts each forgot to crank it back up yield didn’t suffer 1 bit actually prob a bit higher than last run when they were crankin full bore👍

I wonder how much raw action people see on those LA hood tours. Where white people pay $85 to be driven through sketchy neighborhoods like they're in Jurassic Park or some shit.
That s*** is so ridiculous to watch.

ayo, whats good? Supposedly im planning to visit the us for my first time. Where? Ny? Cali? Naaah, i want to get it raw. Hit me.

Do you have specific interests in mind? Surfing, hiking, Sports, diving, there’s a lot to do here if you’re willing to travel a bit 👍💨✌️

We actually totally agree on this, ill start with that lol. Dont disagree with anything youve said here at all. Theres a reason im using PFFD as benchmark metric here not the power of a given light fixture. Doing it that way makes no sense with the variance between brands and even within brands. The best way to compare results between light fixtures is by balancing Luminous flux and Par both. They are both important when it comes to burning the tissues.

My point with it, is just that if your LED's are burning your plants in that territory, its because of another problem like you and me both said.

You dont fix that problem by backing off the light and waiting though, even if that makes the symptoms go away, you havent solved the source of the problem, just a tipping factor, and in doing so you hamper the end product. This is something im seeing happen over and oveer with questions asked here, and its another thing ive stopped trying to nuance when the question is asked because i get messaged in DM by (very obviously) novice growers with light stretched plants recommending people grow under like 350pffd of light. They dont realize their plants are burning above that range because other variables are out of whack.

There's a nuance to what im saying here that gets lost on a lot of newer growers. I already know it isn't on you.

If i get light burn at lower outputs i do indeed back the light off, but then i fix the problem and turn the light back up as soon as i can, because not doing that hampers your end result. Anything below roughly 1000pffd at center canopy in flower nets me a smaller, less consistent outcome plant to plant then otherwise. That is one thing thats been consistent light to light to light for me regardless of how easily they get damaged if something goes out of whack with light that intense.

You also see people turning their lights way down after receiving advice to do so when they only have a small amount of burn center tent on the highest growth. They think a sign that your greater canopy is actually in the goldilocks zone is actually a bad sign that somethings wrong. It's actually Quite the opposite. That is good news.

Might not be good news with a nearly 7kw equivalent bar light pushing probably 1200w. Youre definitely going to have to be careful with that, but also backing it up 6 inches or turning it down 20% makes a smaller overall differnce to output then with a smaller lower wattage light too.

15% lower on your light at like 3ft from canopy is like 5% lower on my light at 12" in terms of PAR reduction at canopy average. Likewise youd have to raise your light a ft or more to get the same PAR decrease moving mine up 2-3 inches would cause. And this is something very worth communicating to new growers********
Facts, like in my 4x8 I’m running a FC-E8000 and a FD6500 next to eachother, I could run both at say 300w but one would no doubt be 200+ PPFD difference. I do watch the power meter so I know how much each light is pulling but I don’t adjust by it

Same reason I stopped dropping the lights down I found more distance and higher power does much better (and less stress on the plant) than closer lights with power backed down,

I’m also horrible at controlling VPD, my new mothers are in the mini tent at 10% RH atm lol the 4x8 is around 30% and the 4x4 has the humidifier running since the Frostette clone wasent doing great at the start she’s clearly rooted in now and darkening up so as soon as I see new growth it’ll be gone

I have been considering hooking my 2 tents together and running the 4” as a circulating fan to push air between the tents and use the 6” as the exhaust, if I do that I could run a single humidifier on low, I hate running multiple humidifiers (or even 1) but sometimes I do out of necessity but for the minimum time possible I doubt it’ll be in there longer than the end of the week

this resonates with me. but i think diode density might have an effect.

i have a vipar bar light at 565 watts that plants will grow right up into. i have a 300 watt hydro hood that will burn just about anything if its any closer than 24 inches. sometimes even if the intensity is turned down.

i am kinda ignorant to nuances, but this is something ive noticed over time. im open to other interpretations, too. i have to be careful with that hood regardless.
Same my mars hydro will smoke anything within a foot of the bars, the phlizon I can run at the same power / PPFD and I’ve had colas grow right up between the bars and never burnt or anything

I'm doing ok. Coasting along. How bout yourself?

Lol I try to have 1000pffd at my flowering canopy centers

When I see people claiming light burn at 500pffd and lower my face does this: 🤨

It's like the go to for people who don't know what an issue is, but want to feel like they have answers for a problem lol. And then people flowering at 500pffd or less wonder why they have fluffy flower and it isn't like the dispos and wearhouse flower.

People have even started arguments with me on this with literally zero grounds or evidence for claims so I just poke fun at it from a distance whenever I get the chance 😅🤣
I’ve done runs at 500 with no issue of fluffy buds, I honestly on average never run over 800 I can get up to 1200 but it’s always caused more harm than good, I like a nice steady 750 as long as the plants are happy, as long as I can clear 250-300g per plant of solid dank buds I’m happy lol. I’m sure if I ran humidifiers, AC, monitored VPD I could push higher easily, but I’m able to do what I do with just a light, an exhaust, and some open bottom flaps I don’t see the added expenses adding a proportionate amount of value to the quality, I’ve tried it, expenses jump $100-200/ mo in electric costs and yielded the same weight and quality as I do without it all.

But I do say to each their own, climate has a lot to do with it as well, i do struggle more in summer with the higher temps and humidity but I make do with it lol
