yeah should be replaced every year or two to minimize risk of potential issues to be more precise

but yeah also some producers report reusing the same perlite for several consecutive years without issues.
notice that to be more precise again this seem to aplly more to hydro facilities using perlite than soil.

"Planting greenhouse tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) in the same perlite more than once without reconditioning to restore medium loose structure, desalination to remove excess salt, and disinfection to guard against pest contamination is risky, and replacing the perlite to produce every new crop is costly. Reconditioning and treating perlite with hot water at a minimum cost provides a favorable solution for both problems and saves natural resources."

I’ve never replaced any of the perlite I’ve used, in probably decades. Although I doubt any of the original perlite I have from back then is still the same I’m using now. Seems like I’m always buying new.

and yeah also read that after a few grow session in hydro producer then use it for compost or to amend soil.

"
Can you reuse perlite in hydroponics?

Perlite retains its excellent air/water balance over multiple crop cycles if handled carefully and under the right growing conditions. Some growers report reusing the same perlite for several years in a row. Afterwards, it can be repurposed for use in potting mixes or as a soil amendment. If perlite is reused, sterilization may be necessary."

Right on James! Always fun to watch somebody Duke It out with mother nature down in Florida! She is still the reigning champ down there!😁✌️
I'm trying several approaches. She is fickle. The wind we had yesterday was as bad as the last Hurricane.
The boys over in Sanford got slapped hard.
We had no damage here.
My entire garden operation is a mess. Oh well, beats punching in.

I’m running out of the house for a few hours but started reading your thread and Love it ! I swear I would pay money for this type of viewpoint.. I get it and can’t wait to finish reading!

I’ll be back later to read this slowly to take it all in, thanks so much for taking the time ! To anyone listening and helping, thanks so much ! I’ve got to catch up a bit with all the great stuff being talked about. Sorry if I’ve missed anyone!

Why is this forum so good with such great people? I see very little negativity, is this the twilight zone of good people? lol, try roll it up, they would have beaten me to a pulp by now. Thanks!
Most of us are high as fuck, adds to the chill vibe. Also, it's gratifying to help others grow quality medicine.

This aged badly.

The only thing that's aged badly are the 50 year old agriform fertilizer tablets!

But a good reminder that when you tell the fancy garden center guys you're growing "trees" wink wink, they might just give you tree fertilizer. 😉

This is my hell right now. I'm trying out rooting starter plugs, which are supposed to be great for seeds, too. No soaking, no wet paper towel, just direct into a really moist rooting plug. 🤪

So, new method plus the waiting makes for fun times 😁.
I was quite frustrated starting seeds, so I decided to take a different approach. I bought a humidity dome from AC Infinity. I also began using starter plugs. I just cloned two Zkittles plants with zip plugs, and that went very well. I've started seeds twice using the dome and have only had one dud, and that was my fault. I started those is in soil. Next time, I plan to use plugs. I have two types of plugs: Zip and RQS. Other growers say the Zip plugs are better for cloning, so I'll use the RQS plugs the next time I start seeds.

you also need to differenciate organic nutrients (liquid or powder) that need to be processed by soil bacteria to be available for the plant with mineral/synthetic nuts (liquid or powder) wich are readily available in their final form for the plant to absorb. both are usable in soil with pro and con for each

gonna ruin your fun even more
Can i mix organic with synthetic

Can i mix organic with synthetic
I've seen forum arguments about this question. Some say we can't do it because synthetics will kill the microbes or cause other problems. There may be some truth in that, especially for large-scale farming. Others say there's no cause for concern. I've tried it and didn't have a problem. I mostly use organic nutrients, but the rapid availability of synthetics can help a plant recover from a problem quickly. So, sometimes I use synthetics for a foliar feed when a plant needs an assist.

As of this morning, I'm 5 for 6 beans popped in the rooting starter plugs kept at 79°F and 80%RH. #6 should be emerging any hour now. The plug in my 5 gal DWC trial bucket sprouted first... It was almost a whole day ahead of the other 5. I'm pretty excited to try DWC with Flora 3 part.
