Me and my husband only grow indoors yet we constantly get spider mites. We've thrown out and cleaned everything more than once. We have been giving it another try and we BACK AT IT AGAIN with the damn spider mites. He's giving up and I have no idea what I'm doing. Send help 🥲

What kind of setup do you have? Tent etc?

Where is the grow located in your house?

just been thru dealing with those f**ks.
bought an automatic sprayer and a can of pyrethrins for it, and also washed every inch of my shed several times at 3 day intervals with insecticidal soap.
was down for a couple weeks but seems to have done the job.
good luck

Basement grows can be really tough. Regular window screens will not keep them out of your house. They're small enough to blow right through them. Keep your windows closed and use AC if you can at least in the grow room. In the basement it's a different story. Once they're in, if there's plants around, they've basically found paradise.

How big is the tent? Is there a way to seal it off from the rest of the basement?

Where is the air in the tent coming from? Are the vent flaps on the tent open or are you running an intake fan?

Does anybody in the house work an agricultural job or anything that would have them in contact with other plants?

Be careful where you get your plants. Nurseries often have spider mites. I once brought some in that way. It's advisable to never bring anything into your grow space that came from a garden or garden store.

They can be hard to get rid of once you have them. I use AgroMagen GrowSafe. It's OMRI listed (organic) and food safe. 8 ounces costs almost $20, but it lasts a long time. You'll need a sprayer, too, because it needs to be mixed with water. It works great. Two applications a few days apart did the job for me the last time I had them.

An important part of getting rid of spider mites is how you spray. A sprayer with a nozzle that points upward is helpful, because the critters live on the underside of the leaves.

floramite, oberon, minx,I had mites once and used these biweekly for a week or two, hadnt seen a mitre since andits been years, this is for use in early veg stage only

To mitigate them, apply a spinosad treatment once a week. Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew works good controlling them but don't try and use it to treat an infestation. Works (very well) as a preventative. If you have them in numbers you are gonna need Neem, pyrethrins, flame thrower, shit like that. Or throw some ladybugs in your tent, order some assassin mite eggs online, they're pretty cheap.

There's a lot of products out there that you can spray on your plants. If you've had this problem before I'm sure you've heard all the recommendations already. Figuring out the physical barriers and techniques you can use to actually prevent them in the first place will save you a lot of headaches in the end.

And you won't just be resigned to spraying your plants with a bunch of stuff every run.

one shot strips they work great they’ll be going in the week and they won’t be back. You can hang these in your basement long as you don’t live down there.

I suggest NEVER using Raid around your cannabis and if you do, please do the ethical thing and if you share your weed, tell the people you share with that you do, so they can make the personal choice whether or not they feel safe smoking it.

That's why I recommend GrowSafe. It says on the label that it is food safe.

This is what I'm now using to mitigate my pesticide use with my outdoor grow. It won't stop mites and aphids but I may not need BT anymore over the Summer. I'm going to pick up some ladybugs next time I'm at DIY and throw them in there and see if I can ditch the Captain Jack's Dead Bug too. They told me they carry assassin mites too, if they get some I'll grab some.

I just looked up the active ingredient and it says it's a blend of plant oils including sunflower and coconut. I agree safe to eat, but are they safe to smoke? Thinking back to when mineral oil in vapes was making people sick.

Predator mites eat spider mites.

I can't say, but I'll take it over Raid. 😉

Mineral oil is quite different from vegetable oils:
Mineral oil is any of various colorless, odorless, light mixtures of higher alkanes from a mineral source, particularly a distillate of petroleum, as distinct from usually edible vegetable oils.

Spraying while flowering is a tough call. I've done it and we didn't have any issues, but we don't smoke. We vape and make tincture. I did spray the plants with plain water after there was no sign of spider mites, which may have helped.

I’ve killed them with neem oil although I don’t see them on captain jack’s list it’s effective with. Mine came from a citrus tree and rosemary bush which supposedly repel spider mites. They were red ones.

Ladybug larvae. Costs about 20 and no question about chemistry giving you cancer or making your lungs bleed.
