Tha Bad Hippies’ 5x5 680w LED Studio Apartment Closet Grow

The plants pictured in the last posts look good. I saw signs of calcium deficiency way up there, but maybe you've corrected that by now. I've read that sand controls fungus gnats, too. Excellent job!

Excellent job!

Thank you. I really appreciate that.

There is a dark velvet that was waterlogged, the really yellow plant. But yes u also noticed those signs and started feeding cal mag. I’ve been increasing the cal mag, and this last feeding they all got the full 5ml/gal and will continue to receive at least 3ml each feed

All I’m feeding is
6ml micro
9ml bloom
3-5ml cal mag.
Seattle tap water mixes to perfect 5.6 ph no up or down needed most of the time.

I’ll add more but I’m kinda broke in the growing budget right now. I just bought more coco and these pots to transplant, so this will be fine for now.

My home town.
I love it here, I’m from Tacoma originally. Born in California. I live right by gas works park, so I can see all of downtown, space needle etc from my apartment for $1000/month. I got very lucky.

well well well. Things have made a full recovery and everyone is blasting off.

I had 4 strains root so far on the 1st set of clones. I also transferred the best looking one of each strain that did not root to a new cup, to finishing rooting, while I take another set of clones.

Im going to flip lights to flower 12/12 on the big ladies after one week for the roots to adjust to the recent transplant.

any plants that don’t root, I’ll just reveg after flower and take clones if it’s worth it. I’ve never had a reveg fail. Super easy.

I read some people are doing 13/11 with these mammoth LEDs but can’t find the info to back it up.

That is lucky. We gave up a nice 3rd floor walk-up in downtown Edmonds with a view of the water a few years ago. Now, we're up north of Everett. I grew up in the West Seattle area. We'd love to move back to the city and plan to do so in a few years.

Hello everyone. I’m Tha Bad Hippie. Welcome to my first grow in 7 years.

Strains:
Inhouse Genetics Dark Velvet, Watermelon Martini, OG Kush, Permanent Marker, Biscotti, Watermelon Gelato, and Apple Fritter

Light: Mammoth 680w mint white LED 6 Bar

Medium: 100% Coco

Nutes: General Hydroponics Micro, Bloom, floralicious plus, florablend, hydroplex, roots excel, fulvic acid.

Closet is a little over 5x5, enough to fit a tent inside when I buy one soon.
Veg tent is 2x2x4.5 when used.

I got my own place and decided to start growing again, as the quality of rec shops is good, but not good enough for a seasoned toker who grew up in Washington state. I was spoiled with lots of cali strains from the 2000-2010 era, as well as sticky fresh Oregon buds, and of course locally grown catpiss, uDub and purple strains. My favorite was the trainwreck that reeked like lemon pine sol.

first I had to start with a light. I purchased a $30 seedling light, as well as a 150w hps, 3 ts600 mars hydros and some random 600w COB light for $40 on OfferUp
Tmlapy 2500W Full Spectrum COB LED Grow Light
I only needed two of the ts600s for veg lights, so I gave the others to my brother to sell on OfferUp. After reading about how they are cheaply made and can start fires, I just used one until my new light showed up yesterday… so I’m giving all lights to my brother and buying a safer veg light for veg tent.

I got my taxes and after research pulled the trigger on a Mammoth 680w 6bar mint white led light. Took 3 weeks after purchase but was well worth the wait. The driver is on top of my fridge, detached from the light.

I went to NASC and without doing much research, I saw their Christmas special on inhouse genetics drops. I my day was Dark Velvet, so I got a 3 pack. All 3 popped, but one plant was struggling so I culled it.

I then ordered the other 6 strains.

I am going to take clones then flower in a 5x5 (when I get one). I also need to get a 10” fan and scrubber for the text room, as the 6” fan and carbon filter is for the Lung room, aka my living space where the fan is used to scrub air to the outside for smell control. I’m just using the 6” for now.

Temps are never past 81. 75-80. I keep the lights on 24 hours, with some 6hour breaks until I get a mechanical timer for the LED.

as of now all the ladies are just being fed a 6ml micro 9ml bloom schedule. Feed every watering. Seattle tap water is perfect enough to use without any cal mag or ph down/up (for now) I will be closely following the schedule made by a member from another site called Highbreed. I know the rezdog formula, as well as highbreeds are easy enough for me to get some harvests in before I start to try other brands, side by sides, dialing things in, etc. I also used to grow with jacks classic duo, and was debating using just citrus, as I’ve read in a few journals, but my most successful past grows were with the simple rezdog formula in coco. I like highbreeds because some of the additives he uses.

you might see a few deficiencies on older leaves from the clones that were ordered. They are past that and new growth is perfect, no more purple stems on new growth. If I examine the two plants i have from seeds, the dark velvet, there is no purple stems in sight (healthy plants) so im feeling confident about the rezdog formula again already. It just works to get things going and grow some nice plants. So hard to mess up.

I’m curious on buying clones online but I don’t live in a marijuana friendly state. Is it pretty safe and reliable to have clones shipped in the mail like this? Like I said marijuana is not legal where I live but I’m really considering on doing this. Also, do you have any good recommendations on a website for some good clones that won’t rip me off? Thanks in advance and great grow diary!! I enjoyed reading that you’re growing again after a hiatus. I’m doing my first ever grow as we speak in a 4X4x6 grown tent.

The Farm bill says THC content over .03% is no bueno. Seeds pass this test, but clones? If you're not in a weed friendly state, then you're going to be buying from another state, meaning crossing state lines... The fed's turf.

Thanks for reading my grow journal!

And I don’t know, I tend to do illegal things and always get away with it.. if I was you I would buy one or two, so penalty’s are not harsh, and just learn to clone. But I have also sent and received many things through the mail and never had issues. Even sent a package to myself once, when I flew to another state, and no issues.

They have so many packages coming through, if you get regular shipping from them I can guarantee you they do not have a drug sniffing dog sitting there on the conveyer line trying to find packages that contain a weed plant or two. It does happen, but I think you’ll be fine the way they send the package. they send you tracking info, etc.

I used clones on fire lb, because they had good reviews and only $25 a clone. He does start them all from seed supposedly, but the strains are all supposed to be good. They reek in veg, that’s always a good sign, and you can tell they are each unique strains, the “OG kush” is a slow growing indica, like it should be.
I took clones of each to see which ones are keepers or not, it does not matter to me where the fuck the plant I got came from as long as it is good etc. then who cares if it’s original or not for $25 a clone.. I’m not selling the shit.

Well here’s a break from the flower room.

I grabbed my 2x2 tent from the little bit of closet storage I have behind the tent. I have been in between jobs, and money has been tight, but bills are paid, and the plants are good. I will get an veg light since my last one was the TS600 and I was too paranoid leaving home with it on… SO Until then, This is my veg setup, haha!

My 24w fluorescent tube light, along with my stove lights until I get a new veg light, why not

The first clone I took was the biscotti, by placing a branch i accidentally snipped into a cup of water for 3 weeks, changing the tap water every few days.

the first SET of clones i took went pretty bad due to neglect (kept the dome on too long, too wet, etc while I was at my girlfriends house). I let them sit in cups of water for three or so days with the dome on, vents closed, no air exchange. They looked pretttttyyyy baaaaaaad, but I transferred them to clone cells filled with coco coir and 1/2 strength nutes. Some took, so I took the best looking survivors and feed them half strength nutes. I took the second set of clones and am doing my first technique again. These clippings In Ph’d water were taken a week ago. Going strong. I don’t have to spray them, but every day or so I will.

I’m waiting to see if the Perm marker and watermelon gelato clones from first set still take. No clones from DV2 made it from 1st round. Otherwise I’d ditch the 2nd set of clones.

Dispensary weed, lemon cherry gelato in first pic.

Cheers!
