What genetics does your plant have and which breeder? If you know,In my opinion, there is no fixed standard for autoflowers regarding the light cycle; it depends much more on the genetics and life cycle. For example, if it's 7-1 weeks from germination to harvest, I would go for 18/5 to give the roots enough time to spread, and anything above that would be 20/4, as that gives enough time and allows for greater growth.
I bought my seeds from mephisto genetics it 24 carat has a cycle time of 65-75 days from sprout. Should I change my light cycle to 20/4?

Alright she looks real good. The first pics looked very dark green i'm glad she looks this color. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress. And have fun don't sweat it.
Ofc I also have multiple other plants going rn waiting for 6 more to sprout

This is from the breeder:

Absolutely. Just gotta poke around! ✌️
I watched countless hours of YouTube videos on everything. My first grow I grew 2 photos n 2 autos I did a 4 month veg with the photos but threw the autos in on month 3 so I’m still kinda new to autos since this is my second grow and I’m doing all autos. Doesn’t help that I’m high everytime I watch one of those videos either lol

Breeders will tell you a lot of stuff on their websites. When it comes to things like life cycle and yield, you’ll get good after a while of sorting through what’s crap and what’s almost accurate. Those things are influenced by a lot of factors that breeders can’t guarantee results consistently on.

The Farm is full of amazing growers who have as many different growing styles and techniques as you can imagine. There is a strong community of auto growers too if you search through the Forums. The best way to get feedback is to start a grow journal. That’ll give you a chance to meet auto pros and really knock it out of the park.

Dude subbed and watching. I have 4 autos in a tent just before week 3. Follow along.

I agree running autos is cute, especially when beginning but I never seem to yield much so idk. The contrast between what auto flower give versus photo period to me is insane

It usually is 18-6 and your example to me makes no sense?
There’s no fixed standard for autoflowers regarding light schedules — it really depends on the strain’s genetics and overall life cycle. For very fast autos (like 7–8 weeks from germination to harvest), I find it helpful to include a short dark period to support root development, especially in cooler environments or when growing organically. These strains barely get a true veg phase, so even a short rest can reduce stress.

For longer autos (10+ weeks), I prefer to give them as much light as possible with just a brief dark phase to boost overall growth and flower development. Sure, 18/6 is a safe baseline — but treating all autos the same just doesn’t reflect the diversity in today’s genetics.

That's my opinion and experience

i push my autos to the limit personally. 1000+ PPM on a feed, feed, water schedule.
18/6 lights at around 8-900 ppfd. usually only get very slight leaf burn on the very tips.
mainly girl scout cookies and wedding cake which are heavy feeders though.
just saying it works for me.

I’ve seen autopotomus pull huge yields with auto flowers but he uses the auto pot system n uses co2. Im purchasing one after this grow to try it out my only thing with that’s system is idk how to run co2 or where to even get big cans of co2 in my state

This is what the garden is looking like now. The 2 small ones in the middle are like a month behind the rest of the tent
