Ditto! I Used the RQS soil plugs (same idea as rapid rooters) and the only thing you need to do is set them up under a humidity dome (and on a heatmat in my case), all 5 seeds sprouted within 3,5 days and this is my first grow. One seedling has popped above the plug 7 days ago and the others 6 days ago. All seem still to be healthy to me.

I did not even soak the seeds, just put them in the soil plug and mist the plug every 4-6 hours to keep it moist, not wet.

For folks who just want some home grown weed why make it more complicated? Go with basic soil and learn from that.
True that . But somewhere on the way you wanna step ya game up and produce something a bit better than bushweed. I started growing 6 months ago with a sh/tty light , low cost soil and a 2x2 closet. Yield was about 2 weeks of buzz. Now 6 months later i read everything there is and now im getting stuff dialed in with a few glitches ofc .

Another big difference when it comes to coco cheap briks is all the coco dust it comes with, makes it overall less porous and a nightmare to dry in winter. Dont be cheap with your coco is all I can say really hahaha.
One of the reasons I use perlite. But i really find it fascinating that we each have our own methodology that is the best. As it works for us. My way may or not be the best way, but it sure works for me. 😃

Bag of dirt $8-$35
Pack of solo cups $3
Tap water $1?
Alive plant you can learn from priceless

Do a few soil grows and get the basics down before you go slow-mo hydro mad scientist mode. Good Luck!!!
I have respect for the non-soil folk but yeah.. Something affordable and a soil grow to get an experience sure is better then going "Blinded me with Science."
I had to reply and be a clown... I will grow up one day :)

And then I thought of a picture idea....

That's exactly how I was and felt the day I made my post. Thanks to all who commented taking there time to try and encourage me. I want to give an update about current conditions in the laboratory. I have some beautiful babies for the first time in over 25 years. These are them at 10 days old. I modified mix to a 60 coca 40 perlite medium started in solo cups . Two weeks later I transplanted into gal milk jugs. Drilling 8 3/8 inch holes.in bottom and placing screen over them then filling up with coca perlite medium. Also upgraded to next reasonable full spec led 500 w ace farmer. After 9 days in milk jugs and feeding 1/4.tsp flora micro,3 ml calmag,1/4 tsp flora grow,1/4 tsp flora bloom , rapid start.as.directed and hydro peroxide 3% 3 tsp per gallon I fed them daily first 4 days 125 ml daily nute mix. At day 5 no watering then went to 1/2 tsp nute mixture twice a day 125 ml. Yesterday I decided to test runoff EC and ppm. Now this has been the fastest growth I have ever seen. Almost at three branch systems getting ready to top ,or so I think. Back to run off. My runoff EC was.higher than I take by 439. My notes tell me.runoff should be 10% lower than intake. Is this correct? I panicked followed.notes taken and flushed with 50% nute mix. Didn't drop it nearly enough so flushed with pH 5.5 tap water. I was to tired to do anything else so crashed.hoping for best.Today plants seem fine. Only new growth.is dark green same as three days ago. Guess I'm asking for help regarding runoff measurements. As well as is it truly ok to water with nutes daily . And should I flush water only after three or 4 feed cycles
Any input will be appreciated. Here are the pics before I flushed.

Your plants are looking good.
I have found that if I keep my ph at 5.8 to 5.9 in veg stage to be the right spot.
When I switch to flower nutrients I'm at 5.9 to 6.0
Then with late flower nutrients my ph runs 6.1 to 6.2

Cheers

This year will be my first year attempting to grow indoors. Reading this kinda makes me a bit nervous. Perhaps I will grow both ways. For indoors I plan on using Royal Gold Tupur and Vivosun automatic watering base with General Hydroponics foods. I've been worried about the wicking of the product and have purchased a drip system to use if I'm not getting enough water wicking. This trip has already set me back over a pound and a half of barter broccoli. Have lots of seeds I produced last year by pulling a Nancy Kerrigan on one of the girls. Time for practice. Any thought will be well recieved.

I think your trying to over complicate everything for being a new grower just pull some tap or bottle water soak for a day then put in cloth or paper towel DONOT COVER In a plastic bag keep dark and don't let dry out check daily once they have tails heat pad and a solo cup of mix drop i.water with something small like turkey baster. Less is more just put a clear plastic up over the spot u planted the seed in .check daily 10watts will be plenty

So I read about buffering coco with cal mag and did a 8 hr soak. Then I read about soaking 36 hrs in calcium nitrate 100 grams per 1.5 kilos coco coit. I did this as well. After 3 gal tap water rinse per 5 gal bags coco perlite 50/50 mix my EC is 353. PPM is 180. PH 7.6. I read for seedlings EC 400 to 500. If I use distilled run off measurement then EC is 209 and ppm is104. This is coco perlite only. No nutrients added. I see a lower EC using distilled water and will go this route. I'm hoping with all this buffering done to coco coit I'll have better results. Am I on the right track? I have my VPD chart and thermostat for temp and humidity set. Hopeful.and frustrated at all my mistakes
Can someone with knowledge tell me if I'm finally heading in right direction?seedling ppfd 250, humidity 65% temp 24 to 26 ° c fan moving air.. I think I start nutes once 1st set true leaves open and go with Flora series nutes mix directions. Any feedback will be grateful. Newby...🐺
Really just worry about not killing a babe plant then start implementing all these things you see us master growers or experienced growers talk about. #1 issue i see is people over complicating it and fucking with to much stuff . Just throw a seed in soil once it getting a seed with more then 2 leafs look into nutrients week 3/4 start checking run off and never feed a full feed schedule. Dyna gro veg/bloom and if needing a calmag get that you won't have to flush just feed half req with water, water, feed and 50%coco or more feed, feed, water

i figure it's a matter of time as to being successful. keep at it and sooner or later you should get some fine results. there are many here who have extensive knowledge and can be very helpful. looking forward to seeing some fine bud from you. gonna follow you. Good Luck And The Best Of Results To You......... 👍👍👍👍

If you're nervous, why not try on a pepper plant or a tomato plant? They grow slower, need less nutes, and need less light intensity. If the plant does, it was just some stupid chili plant. If it does we'll, you know it all works. Then just slowly increase the nutes and light intensity to see the difference.

A lot of this can be as simple or as hard as you want to make it. They call it "weed" for a reason. If some seeds fell out of an airplane, they'd probably start growing in the cracks of the runway. Soil, water, and light, and get out of their way.

A lot of the industry is centered around the right nutes and lights. Dialing it in can reduce grow times, improve yield, and improve quality. But it isn't needed to finish a plant.

Dial in the basics first, then tweak to make things better.

Thank you for taking the time to share with me your knowledge. Everyone has given me a lot of information to process. I recognize I've made nearly every mistake possible. In life as well. I've over watered a lot maybe still doing this. Even with paper towels method 60% did not germinate. My last trying I was reimbursed 21 seeds. The 9 that produces radical lasted less than a week in coco. That's when I felt hopeless. But I'm not giving up. I learned today multi meter is broken unable to calibrate or reset to factory specs. So when I thought pH was 6.0 it was 4.0.. I found a cheap $6.00 pH tester that I calibrated and seems to function properly. Waiting on a multi and two more cheapies to have back ups.Im waiting for new batch sees from NASC. Hopeful they will germinate and will start in solo cups with micro watering 2 10 ml doses per cup daily for first several days watching how fast it dries out and adjusting as needed. I won't start nutes until first set of regular leaves come out.then it will be half recommended amount that Floro Series recommends. EC will be starting at 300 and ppm 200-250 ish first couple weeks. Seems 10 days or so for germination then another 14 days until veg starts.I just hope I can get to this point. This will be progress. I will start a couple in soil. High school days and after I had 6 outdoor seasonal grows that were incredibly successful.Unforrunaley several summers the patch was stolen in early fall. I stopped for 25 years but now am trying again indoors. Thanks again for the feedback .Peace...

It is one Hella time to be an old guy with A.I.
AI is amazing.

What coco do you buy? Because its probably already washed for you. You can buy cheap coco bricks but you need to wash those with PHed water I think he was refeering to that. Of course there's also good coco in bricks, I think even canna has coco in bricks now and those are totally fine to not wash but 1,50 euro coco bricks that I can buy from amazon are dirty as fuck and probably full of sodium.
Thanks for taking time to respond. So I'm 70 days on this grow on the 25 of April. The autos are nearly ready to harvest. Next 7 days I'm hoping the trichromes to be 80% cloudy and 15 to 20% amber. These plants have discoloration like a fuzzy grey sort of. Can you tell me what is going on. These are either wedding cakes autos or blue dream autos. Lost name tag so not sure. I'm not feeding these three . They start water only today and thinking no water last three days. Any advice?

I believe in your mantra,Dusting yourself off, never giving up. I won't lie,it's been a grind.14 months time ,material invested and I'm at this point. 2 Alien cookie plants in 9 nth week flower. They are in hydro dwc and one is going down hill. Missed ph on one feed .It was off 2 points . I flushed with correct lowest ph 5 minutes later. Two days later my larger Alien plant went south quickly.Whole plant went soft droopy, maybe like ec burn? Don't think so. I had a 100 watt vertical 12 inches away for two days. Light burn? Feed burn? Other Alien buds are fresh stuff as hell popping.looking happy and strong. Her sister flaccid. Dying. Don't know what to do. In ec 150 water ph 5.9. Help please . I'm

Im very sorry with all the notifications I missed the ones from this post. Could you take a picture with flash and the lights off? Its difficult to see what is white because of the light and what is trully white. In any case, you should be proud those buds look fantastic. How is the humidity treating them? With big buds you gotta keep that humidity in check or they will rot. Im so glad that you tried again and found success, it will only get better from here.

" Two days later my larger Alien plant went south quickly.Whole plant went soft droopy, maybe like ec burn?"
Thats just because of the flushing, when they have too much water they get droopy the same way that when theyre thirsty, once you water or let it dry they go back to normal.

I had a 100 watt vertical 12 inches away for two days. Light burn? Feed burn?
Seems like it might be too close, whats the brand and model so I can check their ppfd chart? Is the top canopy way more hot than the rest of the tent?

Whats the humidity in the tent and the temperature?
What nutes are you using? Dosage per week? What kind of water? Tap, reverse osmosis, well or distilled?
