Heya buddy hope all is well with you. I have a gardening question for you. My gal made rows about 7 inches high in her vegetable garden this year and it’s tuff to keep it watered. I don’t have much to do with it I would think that not having built up rows would be much better for moisture retention but she doesn’t listen to me. Ha ha what’s better? No rows or built up ones? Thanks buddy

I know around here when they put in a new walnut Orchard they put the saplings in a raised about 2 x 2‘ area! Probably raised up about a probably raised up about a foot! I think it’s a little better with pot plants to have them raised up a little! Less chance of the stalk remaining constantly wet and giving you problems! I transplant mine a little high! But you do have to watch the watering till the roots make their way down into the basement! Then it’s just normal shit! But most of the time I don’t know what I’m talking about! It’s all about creating illusion! Lol! How are you doing? Got any pics of your plants! Would love to see them, brother!😍 as usual I think you’re better off letting her do it her way! For the sake of family harmony!😂🍻

Yours look just fine buddy. I had a late start this year waiting for seed inoculant l hope it shows by the end of the season. Maybe short small plants will be a gift cuz I don’t have the gas I used to have. I put about 20 autos out in the weeds that I have to hoe or rogue out or just leave them for cover then just pull a foot around each plant what do you think? This is my first time growing them in horse dung. I just seeded directly in the soil with some pro mix and perlite didn’t have much luck with germination

Don’t talk to me about not having much gas! This mess is gonna kill my ass!😓😮‍💨 I don’t like having any other plants close to my plants! So I would vote clear out some space around them! You probably don’t need a lot like you said a foot or two! I hope they perform for you! I have only started in cups and up potted! Don’t know any other way! The older you get the sweeter a little five or six footer looks! Nine smalls Trump‘s three talls in my old man handbook!😂🍻 got them watered! 96° out with another six to go! Time to head back to the cold beer and an air-conditioned nap! Don’t be a stranger brother! 😍

Talk about hot and dry, this is my first time trying to grow outdoors in the Mojave summer, Clark county NV. I would have liked to get started earlier but with vacation and some duds I couldn't get some going until the end of May. I'm holding out hope for the couple I have out on the patio while indoor ones are a cakewalk. I'd like to absorb some of your skills!

Yeah, that’s gnarly down there! It took two years of getting the crap kicked out of me by mother nature to figure it out with her help! Now we are buddies! And I sic her on the poor slobs east of the Rockies!😂🍻 if you hit me up tomorrow, I would be glad to shoot the shit with you about it! Red Bluff, California here!👍

I never put anything “raised”.farmers end up with slightly raised rows, from cultivaters, piles the dirt up to get rid of weeds. Everyone has their own techniques, I’m just copying what my father did, it works for me. As for water retention, lower definitely holds the water better. It’s probably best not to buck your wife! You know the game!

Just seen your potato pic, first time in years I didn’t plant any. I used to plant red, white and blue ones, so I could make red , white and blue potato salad for the 4th of July. Potatoes are one of the hardest plants to grow, that’s why my relatives came from Ireland.

We ate the most amazing potato salad last night had radishes in it first time growing them. Homemade mayonnaise too

My late wife used to whip up pretty good potato salad! But she always tried to ruin it with black olives! I had to make it plain to her that Mine can’t have black olives! Black olives in my life is non-negotiable! Lol! I hate them with a passion!🤬

Thanks buddy! It just seems like such a waste of time, water and effort. Spuds yes hills are best but the whole garden nope
