I don’t blame you! After 25 years of driving for work, I hate it with a passion! I would break it up into two sections. Kind of push it the first day and get down as far as Fresno or maybe even Bakersfield! The trick can be trying to time it as to when you’re getting into the LA basin! You wanna try and get in there after the commute rush! Say between 9 and 2 PM! I used to travel with dogs between here and Riverside! Doggy breaks would add an hour to the trip! We would do it in one day! Didn’t want to hassle with the dogs and motels! And it would put us down in hell after the evening commute! If you left early and soldiered on that’s probably when you would be getting up and over the grapevine! I don’t envy you that drive one bit! If I was you, I would take the first half! And leave the second half to your road warrior sister! Lol! Timing is everything when it comes to entering or leaving the LA basin! There are 20 million people down there! So there’s always gonna be some traffic even during the wee hours! At least Pasadena is somewhat on the outskirts! You’re not driving down into the heart of the beast! LolHey Oldchucky my sister and me are going on a road trip down to Pasadena/Covina Cali. on Wednesday morning. It's about 12hrs drive she thinks we can do it in one day LOL, i'm thinking " hell no" we are not 20 anymore and full of energy but we'll see. I've not driven down in many years like 10 maybe? She hates flying, i love it LOL so i'm bringing my dogs to punish her LOL. Were going to see our older brothers 77yrs an 79yrs old. I'm trying to be positive about the drive LOL uggh

Wasn’t any picnic then either! And has only gotten worse! Sometimes the anticipation of it is worse than the reality when you get there! But in my book anyway you look at it, it’s fucked! I have sworn never to go south of the Grapevine again! And I aim to keep that promise! That was 1978
Yeah I agree it was one in a lifetime adventure, and it was fabulous except when I walked through Hells Angeles turf, that was kind of scaryWasn’t any picnic then either! And has only gotten worse! I spent many years down there! But made the break about 40 years ago when I discovered that there are these fantasy places where you can actually see stars at night! And it’s not all just one chunk of concrete! And noise! And light forever!Yeah I agree it was one in a lifetime adventure, and it was fabulous except when I walked through Hells Angeles turf, that was kind of scary![]()

When you live down there, you get numb to it all! It becomes the norm! So it’s not terrible! But when you get out and head to the north end of the state, you go wow! I didn’t know a place like this existed! What the fuck am I doing down there? Lol. So I bailed before I got trapped by jobs, Family, and personal possessions! It’s a big world out there!![]()
Kinda why I came to Ohio, California is a rat race depending where you are, the women are gorgeous out there and there are lots of them,When you live down there, you get numb to it all! Since I'm retired I spend nasty winter in the deep south of Lillian AlabamaYeah, Placerville is pretty nice! I spent my first 15 years in Fort Wayne! I wasn’t about to move back to those winters! That was getting a little too extreme!![]()
Not anymore, they would have to bring me down the slope in a stretcher, lol IYeah, snowbirding is a way of life for a lot of folks back there! If you can swing it!![]()
Yeah! 112° will be a good first test! Will be interesting to see how you score! You could wrap foil around the black plastic one! It might keep the heat down a little! You don’t wanna do that with fabric pots! Good luck on your exam! Can’t wait to see how you score! So now we might be hitting 112 by next week, if I can keep these two alive it will be innovative thinking and persistent tenacity, not necessarily in that order.

Next time I'll get some bigger, light colored bags as suggested. Big enough to fit in my little wagon. My wife is ok with it all because we can also use the bags for tomato plants in the yard and she can have the raised beds for other things.View attachment 2469366
This upstart at the patio door likes to look at them, wave, smile and chuckle a little bit.
