This is my first go 'round using these. Despite being tall and lanky (I need to step up my game on lighting) the two plants I have (an OG Kush & Northern Dawn) sprang up fast, strong and green. What seems weird is that today I noticed it looked like some root must have grown through the bag on the OG Kush as is hanging down in the water tray. Is this normal or am I going to have a problem?

It's normal. I have a dozen Roma tomato plants and 8 Bell pepper plants all on these type of wicking bases. If the roots grow through the side of the pots, they air prune. If they grow through the bottom of the pot, they will end up in the water below. I've never had a problem due to roots coming through the fabric pots and I've been using these bases for a while for everything from cannabis to bell peppers and tomatoes.
