Hello everyone! I’m a first timer and found this at my place when it was small and decided to put them in pots and see what happens. What is growing at the top above the leaves and why?

That's a male plant and it's extending it's flower as high up as it can so the wind will carry the pollen all the way over to my house and cause my plants to grow seeds. 🤣

Thats a male primed to seed all your neighbors plants...kill it and bag my friend

Does a male plant spread only male seeds?
Males spread pollen. Pollen fertilizes female plants. Females make seeds.

Is there any value in keeping it around to keep seeds for future use?
Your male would only have pollen. Breeders collect pollen so they can use it to fertilize a female and then grow seeds for future use.

Letting a male spread its pollen is a quick way to make other growers very unhappy. Pollen from a male can spread for miles and ruin the crops of other growers. It's best to destroy a male as soon as you know it's male.

No get rid of it they are completely useless to you at this point. All they do is carry for a long ways pollinating the plants in the area. Its compost, looks like you did ok though pop new seeds āœŒļø
