Newbie here, can i avoid the smell with a growbox and filters?

Newbie here, can i avoid the smell with a growbox and filters?

Hello guys, Sorry to bother you, i have completly zero experience and my english Is also not very good.
I want ask you, there Is a way to avoid the smell of growing plants, like a couple of very small auto?
Somebody told me that its possibile with a growbox and some carbon air filter, but im wondering, how much It seals the smell inside the box? (Like the picture)

If somebody want give me an advice i'll be greatfull.

No anti smell protection is perfect. You will, from time to time need to open the tent to maintain the plants with checking weight for watering, balancing your light canopy ,training and other tasks. The best system in the world does not work when you open the tent.
Use the box as best you can but perhaps you could ask around for some low profile smell autos. I have come across this in past grow diaries and journals. Stay away from diesel and skunk based strains as they have a very " cannabis "smell. A few guys have commented that the blueberry strain is actually a stealth strain as it smells like a blueberry muffin and will only draw fat cops looking for a doughnut.

Go to the 3 horizontal bars up to the left and click it. Navigate to the forums section and then use the spyglass and search for stealth grow, smell, filters for smell. Search for things like that and you will not only see suggestions but if you follow the post you will also be able to see what worked and what did not.
Right now my Apple Fritter Auto in the last week of so has just broke the filter or something. You walk in the house and you get hit in the face. Lemon pepper spice and the smell of a grow house of pot.
With 2 plants and 2100 square feet of house in the basement behind a locked door with a 6 inch duct and carbon filter.
So I gave up.😎

Of course i know when i open the box It will stink, but i want limit at max possible.

Like @JIMKSI64 said, a tent and filters can do a lot. Some strains will simply overpower them, especially in flower. If you really need 100% containment on weed smell, there are devices like the EnviroKlenz that do a good job, but they're pretty expensive.

You can also get some medical grade odor removal sprays. I've tried a few in the past and remember them working very well at covering up the smell in my car after hotboxing. 🤣

i must be doing something wrong because mine don't smell unless you squeeze a bud , then the smell on my hands is glorious (it reminds me of pecksniffs gentlemens balm)
Im beginning to think that my viparspectra XS1000 is the minimum needed for growing a plant and it produces an average plant ... im wondering if i doubled that up would i get bigger buds with more smell ,. ?

Grower skill and genetics play a role, too. How much light you need depends primarily on how much space you're trying to light. It's not about plant count. I like at least 30W of modern LED per square foot of canopy in flower, hand watering in soil with ambient CO2. 35W/ft² is even better.

Surely an air purifier could help, i'll consider It.
Should i open a new thread to ask for low smell auto advice?

Are you using a growbox with air filter?

If someone want tell me some seeds to try with low profile smell i'll apreciate a lot.

Im really super new and try to config something before start to buy the equipment.

It took me very little time to learn lights. Using a tool to balance a canopy.
Training actually came easy as I have years of experience with food outdoors. Training a tomato plant can multiply yield just like cannabis.
Environment took me a while but I loved the technology. Now with complete control over temp and humidity I approached the final task
Nutrition. My breakthrough came after I finally understood the needs of the plant all the way through the grow. Multiple amendments and keeping nitrogen high until right before the final few weeks.
Almost 2 years of planning and learning and I can finally say I got this.
On one strain.
With one brand of nutes.
In one type of medium.
With one type of light tool.
And one type of pH tool
And I still need the Farm.

I do. I lost my sense of smell in a vehicle accident many years ago, so I rely on others to tell me when to use a filter. That's usually during after flipping the light. Vegetation doesn't seem to bother anyone here. It isn't just flowering that creates odors, though. Some nutrients bother people more than the smell of the flowers. My method is to wait till someone complains before I connect the charcoal filters, because I try to get the most use from the filters as possible. It costs about $40 to recharge a filter, IIRC.

I train to fill my tents in flower, so I'm always working with 16 ft² of canopy. 600W lights, and I adjust based on how the plants look. I start flower at about half power and adjust up as flower progresses. Sometimes I get to full power; sometimes I don't.

So, basically, you're using horizontal dimensions of the grow space. Except the canopy is higher than the floor, which is more standardized. Your power per horizontal space calculates to 37.5 watts per square foot. (I've seen some of your pictures of how well you fill your tents.) Considering how the inverse square law affects photonic energy, do you believe that the distance from the light(s) to the canopy should also be considered? I suspect that 37.5 number would be quite different--power wise--at the crowns than lower down at the floor level. This has to do with making recommendations. We don't know how tall the plants will be, but we always know where the floor is. (And yes, before anyone comments, I've been there many times. 😁)

I take a different approach. I use a light meter and measure from the crown. I also watch for light stress and evaluate the general appearance of the plants, both of which, of course, require some experience. I also have wattage meters on my lights. I have, however, never been able to come close to using as much power as you do. I am currently flowering autos at 27 watts per square foot, and that's high for my style of growing. That's about 850 on the PAR meter at the crowns.

I train wide, flat, and low. My trellis is rarely more than 24" above the floor (except when I get lazy 😁). I lollipop the bottom third of my gardens and maintain that from week two of flower until harvest. All of which is to say that my canopies are similar in 3-dimensions. I'm trying to make a "block" of canopy that's 16 ft² horizontally, and about 18 inches deep.

I hang my LED lights as high in the tents as I can, for reasons you allude to with your inverse square comment. 800 ppfd (for example) at the tops from a light hanging four feet above will make a deeper and fuller canopy than 800 ppfd from a light hanging two feet above the tops. PPFD talk notwithstanding, I rarely use a light meter, except occasionally when switching tents/lights, or when someone asks me for a reading. In addition to canopy depth and reducing the risk of over-lighting, the other thing I like about my approach is that it removes light height from the variables I worry about. I manage the dimmer setting. That's it.

I grow in 100% coco and automate watering and feeding. I never got anywhere near 38W/ft² when I was hand-watering in amended soil mixes. One of the reasons I don't grow autos indoors is that I need to manage the plant shape to make the canopies I want. Tough to do when you don't know how long you get to veg. 😁

It doesn't really matter what you try to scrub the smell with it's never going to scrub all the smell especially in peak flower ,
Best bet is to get a good carbon filter ,fan kit and get it set up correctly as if it's not done properly you will never get the best out of it .

I had a light meter but my son pulled the wires out somehow, but I was lucky and found a third party test that was done on my light, a Maxsisun 3000. My light is best used at 24 inches from canopy becasue it gives the best spread over 3 sqft.

If you have the funds, you can put your grow box tent INSIDE another tent...that will stop the odor from escaping when you open it, providing you close the outside tent before opening the inside tent.

I have anorher question, the fan should be Always on or i have to schedule It like the light?
For the light how much hours you keep It on? 18 hours light or like 12/14 hours?

And how much the light should be distance from the top of the plant? 20cm Is enough or its too close?

Im planning to 2/3 plants max, and i want understend if a horizzontal box with 80cm height Will be enough. Im sure that It wont produce much, but anything will be okey :)
