Hey guys.

Just real quick question…

When you mainline or manifold a plant, is there a point of diminishing returns as far as amount of mains goes?

Like once you surpass say 16 tops?

Just curious if anyone has experience with this!

These plants can grow surprisingly large. Some outside plants can grow to the size of a small tree. The size of the pot has a lot to do with the potential size of a plant. The plants I'm growing in tents have 16 or more tops. I don't grow mainline style, though. I just top the plant a few times. I think the advantage of mainlining might be to make the plant shorter for growing in a small space, like a tent. There may be diminishing returns in that there are fewer branches that can become colas than there would be on a taller plant. I've never thought it was worth the effort.

I'm no expert on the subject, but according to this guide -> https://www.growweedeasy.com/manifold then there should be no point of diminishing returns. It really depends on how long you want to make the vegetative period and whether you have the space for it or if you are growing indoors or outdoors.

If I remember correctly, then the guide gives advice to not go above 16 colas unless you are growing outside, as 32 colas will take up a lot of space, but theoretically you can do whatever you want if you have the space for it.

On a side node, looking at your picture, it does not look like you are actually mainlining. A mainline requires that you only have 2 branches coming off the main stem. It looks like you have four?! The basic idea behind the mainline/manifold is that you want the plant to distribute water and nutrients equally to all the branches and you do that by creating a manifold.

Here is an example of what I mean.
Traditional vs main lined explanation sm

Hope this helps. 🤠

I thought that along side this above 👆👆 that the idea was to get more colas just str8 feed from root to cola. I dunno tho not bill nye
