Hey folks so im gonna be starting my first grow in a 4x4 tent with 700w led andI have a seedling 2x2 tent in my closet with a 100w led. I plan to pop my seeds tommrow and once they germ I am gonna put them in tupur inside solo cups in the 2x2 tent. I was wondering do I put Holes in the solo cups? And when/ what do I feed the seedlings in tupur..? I have drip hydro liquid nute line and power si original liquid. I also have a ph meter. When should I transplant from cup to 2 gal..? Much love appreciate anyone who takes the time to help 🫢🏼

It really looks like you need a source of basic information that any cannabis grower is going to need. Everything from germination all the way through harvest and curing can be found on this website and other such as www.growweedeasy.com
This is the place a lot of us started. You should also use the three horizontal bars at the top left and navagate to the forums section. Poke around and find the grow diaries section. Once in grow diaries use the spyglass search feature and put in terms like your medium choice and your nutes and search out growers who have already had a successful grow here on the farm. You can learn lots from reading journals.
Welcome to the farm.

Yes, you want holes in your cups

No feed 1st 7 days, then 1/4-1/2 strength at every watering to start, then increase
if/when as needed.
I would highly recommend good ph & ec/tds meters

πŸ”§ What you want:

Good drainage
Air to roots
No waterlogging

πŸ› οΈ Recommended Hole Setup: (you don't have to be quite this anal about it, lol)
βœ… Bottom Drainage

Drill or burn 4–6 holes around the outer ring of the bottom

About 1/8"–1/4" diameter
Spaced evenly

βœ… Side Vent Holes (Optional but Pro)

Punch 2–4 small holes about Β½" up the side
Prevents bottom pooling
Helps air prune roots

πŸ”₯ Tools You Can Use:

πŸ”₯ Hot nail or soldering iron = fast, clean, no cracks
πŸ› οΈ Drill = clean if you got a steady hand
🧷 Big safety pin heated = poor man’s soldering iron

πŸ‘οΈ Pro Tip:
Place the cup inside another cup while drilling/burning β€” gives stability and avoids punching all the way through by accident.
Also, you can put clear cups inside of the reds, so you can pull them out to inspect the roots....

Anything else just hollarπŸ€œπŸ‘

Appreciate the tips!! πŸ™ went ahead and used your method for making the holes in the cups ended up getting busy this week but getting started now. So when I go to water the seedling for the first time in tupur I’m going to be just using water? If so how much water and how often to water seedlings in tupur? I’ll be using tap water and I have a vivosun ph meter I plan to upgrade to blue lab pen soon though. When you say feed at 1/4 strength does that mean when I mix my nutrients I go 1/4 of what they ask for? (Drip hydro)

I can't advise much on tupur. Don't let it dry out, it'll become hydrophobic. Water until runoff, then let dry back to about 50% (get a scale, measure the weight when dry, then when wet, then you'll be able to figure a 50% dry-back). 1st feeding use 1/4 of what they recommend, then 1/2 for about a week, then full strength if they can handle it.

I'm hoping others experienced in coco/tupur will chime in. As @JIMKSI64 has said, check out www.growweedeasy.com beginners section on watering practices

When in doubt follow the manufacturer directions

Followed your guide for the cups made about 15 of em with a safety pin🫑 watered till run off the other night both my test run/ learning seedlings have good drainage in the cups! How big should the holes half way up the cup be..? I only poked 4 small ones just with a safety pin not heated up they are super tiny holes. Also got a reccomendation for a ph pen..? I don’t think the Vivosun one will be any good tbh idk. Currently looking into the blue lab pen.

Whichever ph pen you go with, just protect your investment and store it properly and calibrate it.

Glad any of that can be useful to you. Good luck with your garden!

Before I nod off on my afternoon nap, here's how I do my cups. Just take an exacto blade, razor blade, paring knife or etc. and slice 2-4 little slits around the bottom like this pic. You'll notice the bottom of the cup is kind of domed/indented? The cuts you make will be lower than the dome, so you don't have to worry about water pooling in the bottom of it. No need for holes up the side.

Attached are photos I just took just now. Just water the first feed until they opened up and then once opened up I fed 1/4 strength nutes. The one seedling I took a few pics of has a hole in it not sure why and some of them appear to be yellow. Anyone got any advice on these seedlings..? Thanks in advance πŸ™πŸ€™πŸΌ
