Hey all!
I have got three large outdoor Golden Tigers nearing 12ft. and on one of them I am seeing leaves shrivel and die on a few of the tops. Not sure what is going on, it's been dry here in the NE and I have not been giving them much in the way of nutes as they are in super rich soil right by a river. Any thoughts??
Hope your season is going well y'all!
Thanks.

Is it even flowering yet, man that's a late plant. I wonder if some bug is attacking it?

just preflower, and yeah late like everything this year. It's an experiment and an exercise in futility as it will be no where near finished when the heavy frosts come so will prob turn whatever there is into malawi cob!

Make sure your water is dialed in! I have a tall sativa and the first thing to start wilting is the extremities! And make sure to inspect the stalk for damage or rot! It looks like whatever it is, is moving down or just starting in the main body of the plant! Pretty optimistic growing one of those in upstate New York!😁✌️ those aren’t the best pictures! Just two cents!

12 feet wow that's crazy...

From appearance, to me it looks like a wet problem, not a dry one. Possibly fusarium starting to develop in the root zone, a classic symptom is the tops start showing signs of full wilt. If it is, I think you're catching it early enough to intervene and fix.

Yeah like I said and experiment and exercise in futility!!! 😵‍💫 just wanted to see it grow and have a number of other plants that will finish in time:) It has been dry so will give it some extra water!

Interesting as it has been really dry here but I did give them some water the other day. Any ideas on a fix other than limiting water?? ty!

Well you mentioned it's on the bank of a River, right? Can you get a soil probe into the ground and poke around to see what it looks like? Where you buried the plant, the water table could be too high. I don't know the potential distance it will do it, but water will wicker through the soil a little distance away from a body of water.

Other folks are saying check for bugs, that's always a good idea to do on an ongoing basis. Bugs can make a plant look like many things, from water wilt to nutrient deficiency.

Yes, it's about 15 ft in from the bank and 10 - 12 ft above the water mark, which has been running low most of the summer. Soil seems relatively dry but I will poke around.

I keep an eye out for bugs for sure, and not seeing any signs of bug damage. I tend to keep up with neem oil foliar spray as well throughout the season until flowering is established.

Should also mention that I have been growing in the same basic area for over 5 years without this issue or other water issues, fwiw...

Here are a few marginally better pics! It is not a "full wilt" really, more like a curling and drying...

Looks like they are turning black as they die! That’s a bit concerning! But it’s an exotic plant so who knows! The point of no return comes fast and hard on some of these wimpy sativa‘s! Hope you can figure it out! I might learn something!✌️

I'll keep you posted for sure! It's really just brown and dried where it died, not black -- that could be the heavy shadows making it look that way. But yeah wimpy equatorial strains in NW CT! Acting funky and ridiculously late to flower!! More to be revealed!

Hmm. The heat could have triggered fusarium activity. I mean it could just be dry but that hard hooking and messy hairdo appearance seem to suggest otherwise. Hang on, I'm still geeking over a 12 foot plant, lol.

I’ll keep an eye on it but yes the hard hook seems strange to me. Does that happen with fusarium? Never had to contend with that, mostly just bud rot late Sept through Oct… if they ever do form large buds it is going to be a massive chore supporting everything way up there!!
