I have been growing 4 plants and flipped them on the 28th of August. I'm going for 8 colas. I thought they would stop producing nodes or, at least, slow down. Today I removed a bunch more so I'm curious as to when do they quit this and leave only the main cola?
FWIW - these will be moved into a 5X5 asap. I'm just waiting for the weather to cool down reliably. Then I will fine tune all the cola heights with a net and adjust the 3 lights appropriately for the plant they are over.

They “won’t” really. You’re gonna have to keep an eye on them, and trim them from bottom up. Just keep an eye on the buds forming and if they start to stretch, chop it off. Look up “lollipop cannabis training.” I imagine that’s what you’re going for.

It's almost two weeks since the flip. At that point, they're stopping vegetative growth and starting to grow buds. They shouldn't be growing nodes when there are buds growing.

They’re not new nodes persey. They’re flower nodes. If you let them grow, they’ll turn into those little popcorn nugs that are under the canopy.

Keep in mind, there won’t be any new vegetative growth, but the budding plant does spread out and increase in size by almost 40-45% when the buds fill in.

Unless you’re talking about the new growth from the tops of the shoots. Flower shoots are typically suuuuper bright (almost neon) green. That’s the expansion of the bud formation. It takes nearly a solid 3-4 weeks for the stretching to stop and the flower formations to fill in.

Take a picture and post it maybe and I can give some better insights?

Here’s a picture of one of my girls after she started to flower. They stretch and get a new color’d growth that indicates flowering.

If you zoom in you can see two nodes that have stems. These I remove BUT there are also newer versions of these that pop out right beside the main tip. These will have a stem within hours. The nodes grow an inch a day! I suspect that I should be looking to keep ONLY the main tip at this point since flowers are not going form for another week or more???

Those are flower nodes my friend. Is that a sativa?

They’re more stretchy than indicas. Those will turn into little popcorn nugs if you don’t trim them off.

Pretty healthy looking plant though.
