Light browning of buds. Mold?

Growing in a hoophouse and noticing the slightest browning of a few buds. Can I safely assume that any darkening like this is likely the beginnings of mold?

Pictures would help
But if you grab leaf where it’s brown and pull on it and bud comes out you got mold
You can also spray with a water/peroxide mix it will foam on some budrot
Remove affected area keep checked regularly good luck 🫶🏻🪴

Yeah, we need pictures. Is it browning on the actual bud? Maybe it is just sugar leaves showing some stress. Maybe pistils turning brown. Both of these are normal, so we definitely need pictures to make sure it isn't that you are seeing.

I stopped any watering a few days ago, keep the ends of the 10’ long hoophouse wide open, and we’ve had sunny days with low-moderate humidity for two weeks. I’m suddenly seeing a lot of buds with it and it seems to be mold: fine dust (spores?) come off when I handle it. Cut and discard infected buds, right? There’s no saving it regardless of how early the infection is?

I really am starting to think you really don’t like catipillers lol

I’m guessing you’re had a crop or two in which caterpillars did damage.

I’ve seen a few as well

Inside I don’t get to see them so my fear is more mites than anything else

Outside there must be a whole bunch of bugs rabbits ect to be wary of

If your seeing spores then yes bud rot

My eyes are fuzzy today so This one I’m going leave to the outside growers as they know more about it

They should feel mushy & pull of easy if it is

These two pics look like mold to me your leaf is green the more I zoom in the brown stuff looks like fuzzy molding hope I’m wrong

It looks like bud rot. I don't have anything more to add other than previous responses have nailed it.

The most telltale sign is the browning in the middle of a green bud. Pulling on a leaf or anything in that area will result in a chunk of infected plant material being pulled from the bud and scattering fungal spores into the air. Best practice is to not allow it in the first place. However since its here, get rid of all infected buds + a fair amount of the surrounding healthy tissue. Don't take chances, its poison. Then plan on doing a H2O2 based bud wash when harvesting.

I understand what you're saying but it's pretty clear to me in this photo you shared. I circled the bud rot. This isn't a guess either. I've seen my share in outdoor grown weed.

What is this

Yep, bud rot, I'm with roadkill and Oldchucky too. Very early, small, but definitely bad news.
I get it quite often, 'cause I only grow outdoors, but if you see one spot you need to look very carefully at the interior of the buds. (don't pay attention to the people who say don't handle the flower, 'cause you need to examine all of it.)

In my case most of the time the rot happens 'cause the flower is smushed up against a branch and the micro environment is just humid enough and dark enough to germinate the spores that are already on the branch. And spores are everywhere, all the time, outdoors. I rely on the plants health as well as genetic resistance and good dry weather to prevent it. Unfortunately, I've had to trash whole plants, 'cause every bud was infected.

Oh, and caterpillars can 'cause it too. 😉
