I was looking at one of my in the ground plant . It's been a healthy plant because it's 14 foot tall and northern lights strain. Last night I saw this on one of the buds towards the middle of the plant . It appears to be brownish and like it was dying on the plant?. Is it just means my plant is ready and needs to be chopped. If so I'll go out and do so. Just not trying to waste any harvest . 3 pics of the little stem I took off for safe keeping and asking y'all about .. but I also took pictures of the plant and how it's looking with all the leaves

Its either bud rot or damage by a grub like the hemp borer, ive only had it once but i would grab it with a disposable glove, snip it off then pull the glove off so you keep it all inside..

Looks like bud rot to me also. Prolly insect related
Pull it and check. If the middle is gross and smells like rotten this is a 911 moment. You have to get these bugs culled quick. If it is a certain type of caterpillar they can bore down the stems and kill the whole plant with one bug.
Caterpillars normally wind up on top flower.
Take your fingers and grab a sugar leaf on a bud. Pull it directly out from the flower. If it pulls the stem over with the flower you are good. If it comes right out and the stem of the sugar is damp cull that one also.
Good luck.

Yup. Bud rot. Sorry dude. It’s a battle outdoors that we all are fighting this time of year. It usually shows up towards the finish in flower from all the dew and humidity.

Bud rot, brother. It's our curse, growing in NE Ohio. Having big colas is always the problem up here. I've been lucky so far. I've only lost two little Nugz to botrytis......so far. I'm checking daily at this point.

The plant is ready regardless so I'll just harvest it then

I get paranoid and probably overcheck too but better safe than sorry, haha.
