Do you generaly prefer strain with extended or shorter flowering periods?

Trying out this strain finder helper. At first fast flowering sounds great. But wouldnt it in 9/10 cases have a downside of lesser quality bud. And less yield than a plant who takes it`s time to mature? I am sure it depends on a whole host of factors, but I just have to ask. So bear with me :)

Fast flower and auto are going to be tiny plants. They are going to flower on a smaller light than a photo.

The yield will vary but I have gotten 3 lids from a single plant. The potency of an autoflower takes the same grower skill as a photo in that the last 3 weeks of finish will set the potency.

Autoflower plants can not take a setback in veg. I have a rule that I picked up from a diary. If I do not have 5 nodes by week 3 above ground I cull the plant. I am not wasting nutes and time on a 25 grams yield.
Autoflower Apple Fritter.

I have 10 plants in a 4x4 now. I am hoping for close to 2 lbs of weed in 100 days. Took me 4 plants to get the nutrition add correct

Less yield is a given. Doesn't necessarily mean lesser quality bud though!

Also the most important thing for finishing.
Do not go by breeder time listed. The plant is done when the plant is done. I had the same breeder plants do between 86 and 110 days. The best one by all standards ran the longest.

I always recommend Sensi skunk, heavy hitting fast flowering short easy to grow with a fruity skunky flavour.

A more sweet variety would be Sensi super skunk.

There's no downside to autos if you are using the quickest veg time as it's the same as the quickest photo veg time about four weeks.

Over a year more harvests beats more time to mature in yields.

Really depends on how you grow and for what end 😁

What do you consider the safest give aways when a plant is done?

That is an interesting take. Some people claim that the yields of autos is nowhere near enough, even if they give twice the number of harvests.
Would love to see some discussion on this particular topic.
