Hi guys.

Just finished my first grow and im preparing for the next.

I've got a 53x53x160 cm tent. With a vipar spectre xs1500 pro and running a 5 gallon autopot system.

I've used soil and biotabs in my first grow, but im going for a 50/50 coco perlite mix ( because of the airdome in the autopot system) and going with shogun samurai coco multipack.. but my biggest concern, is that im away for work every week from monday - thursday.. thats why i love the autopot system, but i cant turn in on before start week 3, to be sure the roots have gone all the way to the bottom.. i've heard that coco needs watering every day, so could i use some sort if drip system with a drip ring, for the first 2 weeks.. or wouldnt that work ?

So would the drip system with a ring be on a timer? If this is on a timer how would you gauge the amount of water to disperse?

Ive done it I just keep low ppms and only have the timer dump water once. Maybe twice a day. They don’t need much water or nutes at that point but you’re right about them needing nutes in coco early.

If you really wanna make it easy, look up the krakty method and put them in little bottles with water boom come home plant them in their coco and autopots and rock out lol

I,ve found a small system that is app controlled. So i just need to tell the app for how long and how often it should be dripping..

BUT, as i've just finished my first grow, i really dont know anything about drip systems at all, that was kindda what i was hoping some of you guys could help me with. Because i have no idea how much and when to have it running.

Thanks bud, i'll look it up asap. 🙏
Only thing is im growing autos and what i've come to understand is that transplanting autos is almost close to being a felony 😅

Did you have any issues with underwatering, using a drip system. ?

This really depends on the how large your containers are. I would take the system for a trial run see how much it puts out per minute. This will give you a better idea of how to set it for your needs.

Yeah. You're probably right.. that might end up being what i'll do. Had it been soil i wouldnt worry that much, but somehow i find coco really exciting and scary as hell...

It is a great hobby that for the most part brings great things. I have switched to hydro due to bugs in my soil.

I was looking into DWC at first, but i would have some issues keeping the water cool enough.. so figured coco would be the next best thing.

How's it been switching from soil to hydro ? You running dwc ?

It has been such a great experience. No more bugs to deal with and the growth is quite amazing. I have a DWC system which is homemade and doing great!

I filter my water and put it in a Poland Springs 5 gallon container and change my water every 2 weeks. In between I add additional water if plants require. I measure my ppm, water temps and ph on a regular basis.

I run seedlings on a little flood and drain table before they go to the veg tent. Solo cups, 100% coco. The pump runs 4 times a day. It works well. Just another option.

Coco doesn't need fed every day or absolutely require run off autopots are a good example of that, last crop using autopots I turned the tap on/off every 2nd or 3rd day and got better results than previous attempts.

For vegging I feed them until they needed fed again.

They don't look unhealthy because of it.
