My apologies for another post about when to harvest.

The thing is, I have been growing now for only 2 years and everytime I get near harvest I start to doubt myself. That is why I come here for advise as in all the posts that I have read everyone here is really nice and patient.

The strain I am growing is an Indica that has a 7-8 week flowering time according to the breeder. I know that it is a guideline but I have grown this strain before and got till 11 weeks and still saw a lot of clear trichomes under a 60x loop. At the end I decided to harvest and when it was dry and cured it had a large couch lock effect.

This time I am now at almost 9 weeks and the signs are there that she is ready. There are brown pistols (90%) that dried in, she does not drink as much as she used too, the smell is amazing, leaves are showing end of life signs, buds are swollen and heavy but the trichomes look clear and cloudy under the 60x loop. There are again not much amber trichomes.

I know that the trichomes on the sugar leaves are not the onee to check (at least that is what I read), but what do you think? Does she still need some time or is she there and can I harvest? Am I reading the trichomes wrong? I am curious what you all are seeing and thinking.

Another question is about the loop. Is 60x too much and should I use the 30x? The problem is that with a 30x loop I see only milky trichomes and am not able too distinct the clear from milky ones.

Some additional information. I use a small tent (40 x 40 x 120 cm) with a 65 Watt lamp. I have a new larger tent fromSpider Farmer that I start using after this because this one is really small, but it works and is also sort of fun. I grow in soil and use a water meter to determine if she needs water. Always water with run-off and check the ph of the run-off. I feed with Biobizz and use the complete range according to the schedule that they provided.

There were some ph issues in the soil a few weeks ago that I spotted too late and unfortunately that caused the brown spots on the leaves. This was fixed, but some leaves were already infected. I don’t think she suffered from that too much.

Should you need additional info than please let me know.

Thank you for helping!

Wow that's a long over due but it happens. The breeder's guidelines are just that. I see a lot of white/green young stigmas in your buds still. Hard to see the trichs so I can't say much else.

I did a Gorilla Cookies Auto (by Fast Buds) run a few months ago and it ran 108 days. Not sure if its the strain but I still had a lot of clears with some ambers. The weed was still great. I was afraid to push it any further.

In my humble opinion the close up photo of a tric does not get enough data to decide. I suggest that those pictures are a glamour shot to show off.
Now I have a bunch of those pictures also but I have put the microscope away as it does not gather enough data QUICKLY.
I use this
https://www.amazon.com/NUEYiO-Rechargeable-Magnifier-Magnifying-Anti-Flicker/dp/B0F6XJ8PVZ
This big glass lets me quickly survey the entire plant at 30 x and it has 2 more closer magnifications to spot check at 60x

By flying the glass around the plant you can look for the blush of amber and can quickly and correcly estimate percentages of amber in the grow.

I suggest it's hard to get others advice by saying "I flew the glass magnifying lense around and it looked like blah blah blah blah." I'm not disagreeing with the principle of what you are saying just it makes it harder to garner any advice from others with just a written description.

Challenge accepted!
Will mock up a vid on a house plant or something. I got seeds in paper right now.

Thanks for the large magnifying glass, that helps! I understand what you are saying but for this post I thought it would be better to place pictures so others ca see what I was looking at.
I think it does too. And in time you may end up relying solely on it or something similar. There are some growers who don't even look at the trichs but they've been judging harvest on their plants for eons. Again let us know how you liked the strain.

No problem
I grow only ugly weed and no one wants to look at some guys ugly kids anyways.
But I got pics. This one shows a good chunk of amber.

It also took multiple attempts and that's using a monopole and 10 minutes.
Then I spotted 3 bracts together.

These show cloudy and clear.
By using the glass I can survey more of the plant and make a better call

No one is disputing it's effectiveness for such a well trained eye as yours. But not everyone has that eye...yet.

I will! Thanks again for the help!

I suppose the last thing I do is look at the buds with a magnifier. I've usually made up my mind by then, though. That said, we don't always harvest at a specific time. Sometimes we harvest before we see any amber trichomes. Sometimes we wait longer. I guess we just use our intuition.
