I’ve had a pretty mixed but interesting experience with Herbies genetics over time, and this run really made me think about how much perspective changes with experience. A while back I grew a similar OG from them, and that first attempt was honestly rough. She got stuck very early into flower with extremely slow pistil development and almost no stacking. I did harvest in the end, so it wasn’t a complete failure, but the yield was much smaller and airier than I expected. Back then I blamed the strain and figured it was just too demanding or “not for me,” especially since I was mostly running autos at the time and they felt way more forgiving and predictable.

Fast forward to now, I decided to give OG genetics another shot with more experience under my belt, this time running a photoperiod Godfather OG from Herbies, and this run feels like a quiet redemption. Same genetics, but a completely different story. Growth has been steady, no weird stalls, no constant second-guessing. I was much more conscious about avoiding my old mistakes, less micromanaging, more consistency, and just letting the plant do what it wants to do. We’re getting close to the finish line now, and everything looks solid so far.

It’s kind of funny how a strain that once felt like a miss can turn into a hit when you come back to it later with more confidence and patience.

I’m curious how it’s been for others with Herbies Seeds. What strains were a hit for you right away, which ones felt like a miss at first, and are there any you’d actually run again despite an early bad experience? Also, how do your buds usually look in that final stage right before chop? Do you notice anything specific about the tops as they finish up?

Interesting experience! I’m pretty sure you’ve just leveled up your grower skills, so now even the most finicky strains are no problem for you.
Honestly, this happens a lot. On paper it’s the same strain, but once you start growing it, you realize the personality can be totally different.

Yeah, exactly. I really want to believe my experience has actually leveled up lol.
And honestly, I also get that nature is gonna be nature, you should always expect some surprises and mood swings from her 😅 but right now it really feels like I’ve made real progress and I lowkey feel like a winner. Such a great feeling honestly.
Now all that’s left is to make it through harvest and drying without any disasters 🤞
