But they will start to rust as soon as you’re not looking at them! Have to soak them in oil! And the action is anything but smooth! What do you want for 200 bucks? Ha ha!
Mine was free, a gift from my youngest. I haven’t oiled it yet but yes racking it isn’t silk and has jammed up on me once.

I had one of those, but I gave it to my brother! You have to be careful with them as they were made to shoot paper, shotgun shells! And no choke tubes for those! You have to change the entire barrel and forestock assembly! I tracked the serial number and it was made in 1915! Field grade! They made millions of them so they’re worth about 500 bucks! Also have a 1935 Winchester model 69 22! Whoever ordered it out of the monkey wards catalog must’ve checked all the boxes! Adjustable peep site and a hooded ramp site upfront!
Mines been handed down thru the family for several generations, I'm the last branch on the family tree.

It's put more viddles on the table, than a piggly wiggly. It has .22 cal. bird shot stuck in the stock, from when my father and one of my uncles were shooting rats in the rafters, where Grandpa had it hanging.😆

Not a bit of blueing left on it, my buddies called it the chrome cannon, with it's 32" full choke barrel.

Pic of it in the hands of one of my descendents (top right) and me in my graduation picture.

Yep...My blood comes from the Appalachian mountains of WV. 🪕

I'm known as a hilljack. That's a educated redneck. 🤣

I’ve got its cousin an 1894 Winchester 25-35, lever action (same action as yours) octagonal barrel, buckhorn sights! It belonged to my grandfathers great uncle. They’re both great guns, mine is hard to find ammo for. Impossible to find ammo in copper. I deer hunted with that gun for many years.
Sure it's a 25-35. And not 25-36
I only find a listing for 25-20, 25-21, 25-25 and 25-36 for obsolete black powder cartridges.

That .22 worth some cheddar.

View attachment 2601961View attachment 2601962I don’t hunt anymore, but still shoot rats. Every year my neighbor gets them in his compost pile. I clip them, shot one through the screen. The one in the picture was eating the soap in outdoor shower.
I still have some barn rats but nothing like when I had pigs. Every time their feeders got pretty well empty I would go to the barn with my son and give him the .22 with rat shot. I’d tip the feeders over and he would just start shooting them. Kill the rats refill the feeders.

Positive it's a 25-35, 25 caliber:
The .25-35 Winchester Center Fire (6.6x51mmR) was introduced in 1895 by Winchester for the Winchester Model 1894. Together with the .30-30 Winchester, it was one of the earliest smokeless cartridges designed in North America for a sporting rifle.[2] Savage adopted it for its Savage Model 99 lever-action rifles. The case was based on the .30-30 cartridge.

I've also got a WWI 30-40 Kraig, still has the original brass and leather, only missing the bayonet. The original "doughboys" got 30-40's left over from the spanish american war, later they were equipped with 30-06's. It belonged to my wifes grandfather. It has shrapnel in the stock, he was carrying it in a field in France when the guy next to him stepped on a landmine. He was in France in a hospital until 1922, he was 16 at the time. He was riddled with shrapnel, told he never see 21, died when he was 80!

Ah.!! I thought and checked black powder, didn't think it was smokeless. Those #s usually dictated caliber - black powder charge. Very cool

I only have one blackpowder gun, a double barrel 12 ga., but it's a modern gun. I call it the iron skunk, better pull the second barrel quickly or the smoke will obscure your vision! It has shot pockmarks in the stock, I was carrying it when some guy put about 80 pellets of #4 lead shot into me while pheasant hunting!

I had to go fix a non operational front door at an apartment building.....so missed the last half of 3rd and Overtime. No big deal 🤦🏼
Saving their energy for the finals versus the big U.S team 😉
