If anyone gets overwhelmed and confused at all the constant talk of treating autos differently and the miriad of differing techniques to sort through this might help. I treat me autos like photos (have for years) and haven't found any difference in the way they need to be grown. Ran most of em on 12/12 as well. There's no need to treat em differently. Here's a bunch of autos ran 12/12 or 14/10 if I felt exxy..
I just throw em in a pot of potting mix, water daily from the get go and that's about it. No need to treat em any different. Just plants at the end of the day. No-one has been able pick the autos or photos side by side in me tents on the same photoperiod, same treatment and same environment, time after time again over the last 5-6 years. No one's been able to tell whats an auto via smoking either.
A lot of the stuff you hear thrown around about autos is way over exaggerated. They are just plain old plants that don't need a photoperiod change to flower. That's it.
