Need advice on ac hose extension setup

@GasPlease

Hey @GasPlease
I wanted to check with you how long have you extended those AC hoses?
have you had any issues with the setup by extending the AC hoses

I’m currently in the process of installing a portable AC unit
I’m trying to figure out the best way to run the ducting.
I wanted to see if extending the hose is a good idea. I noticed from your image in the last conversation that you did something similar so I thought I’d check with you

Are you referring to the white hose there? If so Im assuming thats the exhaust hose which shouldnt cause any problems. Looks like youre using that false wall as a thermal barrier?

I was thinking of putting a booster inline fan on the white ducting to deal with the heat from AC
I’m Using cardboard I’ve got some other materials laying around as well. I’m gonna put up. I’m just in the process.

When I run the AC the tent balloons out creates a smell
when it’s off I get negative pressure
Fans are balanced
but the pressure stays unstable creating a balloon effect in the tent ?

Ok AC hoses.
Duct work can hinder performance over longer runs with the corrugated flexible stuff.
I piped my ductwork with semi rigid aluminum. Much lower resistance but still not as good as straight wall.
If your room that has the pipes running through is much warmer than the AC air you may have condensation issues.

You dont need a booster. You need to remove the heat from the area that it exhausts to. Whatever that space is that the white hose dumps into needs to be able to regulate the heat. Like a box fan to move the heat out into the living space or ideally outside.

When pushing air into the tent it will always balloon up unless you are removing air at the exact same rate. Youre getting into a complex system imo if you want perfect precise control. There isnt an easy way to avoid a smell when pushing cool air into the tent. I think the best way to handle the smell is to have a scrubber in the lung room. tent vents smelly air into sealed lung room and another exhaust fan and carbon filter scrubs that air exhausting it out of the lung room

I’ve extended the hot air pipe to the living room I need a few more metres to extend it to the window
The AC has been on for 3 hours
The room was 24°C when I turn the AC on
Now it’s 20°C the lights are off

I have to keep the carbon filter fan working at 70% to avoid the tent from blowing up

Sorry about the mess. I’m in the middle of sorting everything out.

Yes, it is a complicated system.
Try to understand and balance everything out
you’ve been great help and I appreciate it. Thank you for your patience.

How is the cool air from ac getting into the tent? Is it duct in or separate fan pulling from lung room?

The problem I see is your ac produces the cool air, cool air is injected into the tent then immediately pulled out by the exhaust and out the room. The positive pressure is almost unavoidable. You need triggers of some sort controlling the in and out air to the tent.

@JIMKSI64 might have something to add. Im not familiar with his exact setup but Ive seen him talk about having good control of his environment.

8 inch in line fan
When the fan controller goes to 30% is when the grow tent is blowing up like a smelly balloon
I can’t keep a negative pressure on low settings whilst the air-conditioning is working.

I need a few adjustment still. I’m not quite there yet.
