Greetings fellow farmers!. I live on ten acres with my wife and two dogs. High desert climate, dry, sunny and hot with bitterly cold winters. Smoked 'pot' in high school back in the 70s with High School chums. Fond memories of Mexi brick weed, Columbian red and gold, Oaxacan, Thai Stick, Jamaican, Hawaiian, and hash from Afghanistan, Lebanon and Morrocco. Grew some Columbian and Thai seed under flourescent lights in my closet while cacti and succulents filled my bedroom windows. Parents never knew.... Smoked infrequently after High School, concentrating on marriage and career. Did a guerilla grow in NJ back in the 90s. Sprouted some bagseed and put a female in a five gallon bucket filled with soil and nestled into a steep and rugged talus slope on a mountain with excellent southern exposure. Got four ounces of killer bud from that grow. Moved out west in 1998. Wife took me to the ER on July 15, 2021, fearing I'd suffered a stroke. They did a CT scan and doctor said "suspicious looking tumor in your left frontal lobe." MRI showed "likely malignant lymphoma" and a biopsy confirmed PCNS diffuse large B cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, a very rare and agressive form of cancer. Over summer and fall of 2021 did four rounds of inpatient chemo at Billings Clinic. MRI scan then showed NED (no evidence of disease). Due to high rate of relapse, my oncologist recommended ASCT (Autologuous Stem Cell Transplant), which I had done at CBCI in Denver. Chemo side effects were brutal. During a break at home between rounds of chemo, a friend stopped by to visit. He gave me two joints and said "maybe this will help." Indeed it did! Anxiety was gone and the vomiting, and lack of appetite eased. A week later, a friend from a "legal" state called to say hi and noted that he'd be visiting in a couple weeks. He arrived, bringing a one gallon jar filled with about a half pound of bud and a few packages of gummies. His neighbor (who I also knew) had a license to grow medical marijuana. Not sure what that strain was, but it was potent smoke. I completed treatment in Denver in Jan. 2022. Have had regular MRI scans ever since and I'm still in remission. THANK YOU GOD! Recovery from the cancer took months. Not completely back to normal. I developed Osteoporosis from Chemo and my hips are shot Avascular Necrosis Femoral Heads. So, when I get pain in my hips will need hip replacement. I thank God for every day and so happy to be alive. Not wanting to depend on dispensary weed, I grew some bagseed from that batch of bud. Also ordered Afghani and Agent Orange seed online. Grew indoors under LED with great results. Got even better results growing outdoors in the ground. Now growing lots of landraces and crosses that I made. Here's a photo of me a few days before completion of treatment at CBCI. I had lost twenty pounds (that I could not afford to lose) but I "rang the bell" and returned home.
