Thread Introduction:

In this thread I will be documenting my cannabis cultivation methods from seeds to curing, while also sharing how I utilize my plants for culinary purposes as they mature.

Respectful Request:

I am here to share my research, and respectfully request to be allowed to fail without unsolicited feedback.

Mission Objectives:

Have fun, and produce buds and seeds from each strain—for the sole purpose of creating a locally adapted variety that is bred for quality and resilience.

Selective Breeding:

Displayed in the following image, are my feminized seed choices that I will be breeding with regular seeds. The regular seeds were locally grown, but the strain is unknown; photos of the mystery plants will be uploaded shortly.

Mystery Strain for Breeding

The following plants are from mystery seeds that were locally grown, each one sown in native soil. As soon as my males can be identified, I will separate the most resilient male—from the least resilient males—before the culling process begins.

Each container has been labeled.

Pressing into native soil, up to the first knuckle of my pointing finger—to make holes for sowing seeds.

The seeds have been sown in their designated container, and are now being covered with soil.

Status Report:

Waiting for germination.

Unintended Low Temperature Stress Test for Mystery Strain Seedlings

Normally, I bring seedlings inside after sunset, but yesterday I left them outside all night by accident; fortunately, they survived 3° Celsius (37°F), and are currently showing no immediate signs of damage. Some sources claim that temperatures in that range will permanently stunt their growth, but only time will tell.

Since my last frost date hasn't passed yet—in hardiness zone 5—I will bring my seedlings inside at night; however, I may let them sit outside for a short duration after nightfall, before bringing them indoors—just to further test their resilience.

Drought Tolerance Test

Purposely depriving my mystery plants of water, to find the most resilient male amongst the group. The two that are in between the two pieces of wood, will be culled and simmered in oil—for a stir fry.

It's not much, but a low simmer for about an hour, is still effective for achieving a mild edible relaxer.

Six mystery plants remain, still waiting for the strongest male to be revealed so I can cull the rest. If everything goes according to plan, I will end up with one male and five feminized females.

I'm still waiting for my feminized seeds to germinate, six days have passed since the seeds were sown; will post an update as soon as they sprout.

Hello i'm a lady outdoor grower in Oregon. I don't want to step on your toes but just maybe more water may be needed for those seeds that have'nt come up for 6days? Is it warm where there at? I get your in a not so prime grow spot but i hate seeing folks waste $$ on seeds.

The soil looks dry, but its only dry on the surface; bottom watered yesterday. Nighttime temps are still around 5° C (41° F), but daytime temps are currently around 21° C (69.8° F). Seeds should sprout soon, fourteen days max according to previous grow seasons; don't want to water too much to avoid dampening off.

Ok i get it best of luck and i'll be watching your grow.

High Wind Stress Training

On very windy days, when temperatures are above freezing, I always keep my potted seedlings outside—so the main stalk and branches are trained to grow strong.
